this is the problem- i don't trust him anymore because despite me flat out asking him and asking him to promise that he was being honest he continued to lie for days

Now that is a BIG problem Chica...

If u DONT trust ur future HUSBAND...
.... it is bad.....

I am not sure whats the problem... but if the problem involves strippers, I dont blame U i woudl be iun the same situation! ....
ALSO think of the Problem, If it is something little/dumb then Maybe there is NO reason to make it a BIG issue...

Sorry chica

Did you tell him you know he is lying for a fact and give him how you know? Maybe confront him in front of the people who told you the truth?

I am sorry

I really think lying to the person you are about to marry is really messed up. I think the fact that he told other people to deliberately NOT tell you is bad.

I am sorry you are dealing with that, I hope he can resolve this for you and you two can work it out.. You have to talk to him. You don't want to enter a new chapter of life with distrust in your heart.

Best of luck!!!

Re: furious with FH.. vent

if he lied about something and was caught in a lie, how is it in any way YOUR fault?

Obviously he knew you wouldn't be happy with whatever he lied about and was hoping he could get away with it.

Lying by omission isn't right but if you asked him outright and he lied to your face several times, that is a huge problem IMO. I would be livid.

BUT guys can be stupid. He might've really thought he could get away with it.

If what he lied about wasn't a huge deal and the disjhonesty is th eproblem, just take a few days to cool off and then both of you can have a rational talk. How he responds when you are honest about how and what he did hurt you, is going to be the important factor. If he gets defensive and hostile, he needs to grow up! If he is mature and apologizes and really tries to see things from your perspective, I think you guys will be fine!

Re: furious with FH.. vent

Aww I'm so sorry I have been there a few times and I know how it feels, it really sucks Being lied to is such a hard thing to deal with/overcome bc it's so hard to trust a person again after they've lied to you.

A couple years ago fh used to lie all the time about smoking bc he swore to me he quit. Then he would come home from work or a bar w/ his friends and he would stink like cigarettes. I would ask him if he smoked and he would look me right in the eye and say no even though he stunk of it! There were alot of other big things that I was lied to about also.

The best thing to do is have a sit down talk w/ him and explain that marriage is based on trust and honesty, and no matter how hard it is to tell you the truth sometimes he still has to tell you. It's so much better hearing it from him then through someone else.

he kept swearing, even on the future of our relationship that he was telling the truth and that i should trust and have faith in him... and i said im going to give you one last chance to tell me the truth and then i will believe you but if i ever find out from your friends, even a year from now it will be soo much worse... he hesitated then said no again... i commented on the hesistation then he told me. he is insisting that he told me on his own- even though it was pretty clear that he had no intention of ever telling me

Sorry girl maybe just confront him that you know the truth & tell him thats it hurting you that he's lying to you? Trust is such a big thing with FH & I.. it's one of the many things that keeps a relationship strong.. Maybe its something little.. hope it all works out

Its hard to evaluate what to do with out knowing all the facts.

I am assuming this has something to do with strippers?

I'm so sorry, I would feel hugely betrayed. What he did was cowardly. Instead of coming clean so that you two could deal with whatever issue right away, he was running away from it hoping he would never have to deal with it.

I really, really, hope he comes around and realizes that what a huge deal that is to lie in your face more than once. He needs to apologize ASAP and work his butt off to gain your trust again.

ugh, I'm sorry! Guys are real idiots sometimes!!!

If he lied who is he blaming somthing on you?

I guess you did have a bad feeling from the start, and you had that bad feeling for a reason. I have to say that I would be extremely dissapointed if he lied specially about his bachelor party.

The best thing IMO you can do if really sit down and ask him to put himself in your shoes.

Sorry Chica.
I would feel the same way.

Take a day or two and unwind then come back and talk to him. Ask him why he lied in the first place.

I agree, and I know that the reason why they lie is bc they're afraid we're gonna get mad at them if they tell us the truth, so it's easier for them to just lie about it and not have to deal w/ any fighting or arguing. It makes their lives easier and our lives hell!
