Re: Which stores should I register at?
We did Macy's and Williams and Sonoma. I found that Macy's carries great stuff at a reasonable price for our guests. I have had nothing but great experiences with them so far. I love there selection. The salespeople are so helpful at Macy's. I have friends that have also used Macy's in the past and did not have any problems. Williams and Sonoma is also has a great selection. I did all the registering for them through the internet.

We did Fortunoff, Bed Bath and Beyond and Bloomingdales. My friends registered at MAcys and had alot of problems returning things. BB&B is great because they give you cash back for anything you return. Fortunoffs has been great too- they match all prices.

Definately Bed, Bath & Beyond. Awesome customer service and user-friendly system.
I know it is a drive for you, but it is worth. My friend from HB actually referred me to BBB.

Re: Which stores should I register at?
I heard the same thing about macys from 2 friends. They both had registered at Macys and actually closed their registeries there and switched to Fortunoffs which has a larger selection. Also I have found with fortunoffs, although they dont run too many sales their everyday prices are lower than most, but keep in mind there arent many stores around. The only one on LI is in Garden City.
We registered at Fortunoffs and BBB (BBB was so much fun)!!!

Re: Which stores should I register at?
We did Macys & Pottery Barn. I suggest picking (1) department store type and (1) specialty store type.
Macy's is pretty good coz they always have sales and their selection of China is great. Pottery Barn has 'chachkas' that i like.
I wouldn't suggest registering in too many stores but 2 is good.

Re: Which stores should I register at?
Consider, first and foremost, where most of your guests live, and the availability of the stores you're choosing to those people.
I say this because you may have people who are not comfortable shopping on the internet, or just want the joy of going to a store and buying you a gift! My Matron of Honor registered at Macy's (had a great experience, btw) without considering the fact that her own MOTHER couldn't get to a Macy's (there are no Macy's or related stores in Syracuse, NY)!
For that reason, we registered with Macy's (there are Macy's in Danbury, NJ, and all over the country where most of our guests live), and Bed Bath and Beyond (for our many Upstate guests).
As for cheap stuff - I think you are a better judge of what you consider cheap.

most definatly. I agree on this
I have family in Maryland and PA so I took that into consideration.
You may want to register at a place like BBB for people who are out of state and a place like fortunoff or macys for people that are in state and can easily get to those places.

Re: Which stores should I register at?
I have registerd at Macy's and have not had a problem returning stuff. As long as it is on your registry you can return it at the price it was paid for. I returned stuff I got from my eparty and then when I went to buy something else the girl behind the counter informed me that if I wait another week they were going to be buy 1 get 2 free. I found macy's to be very helpful, especially the women in the Lake Grove store. They even helped us pick out silver that would match our china perfectly.

Re: Which stores should I register at?
We did Fortunoff and BBB. I know a lot of people who had problems at Macy's (both the bride and groom and the people buying the gifts) so I stayed away from Macy's. Macy's does have a nice selection though and should be convenient for most. It's up to you.

Since my family lives in Bklyn and my FI's family lives in LI, we registered at Fortunoff and a local store by my house.

Re: Which stores should I register at?
We did our first at Macy's and drove all the way to Roosevelt Field, figuring they are the biggest one on LI. Then we were going to do Target also, until I heard about the horrible return policy they have with registry items. It's a pain, and I don't want to deal with it, even though I love Target. We are going to Bed Bath and Beyond...there are coupons in flyers, they have all the major brands, they have a great return policy and I've seen nothing but great reviews on them!
Good Luck....and I'll warn you...the guys love the gun!!
