Re: YOUR BRIDAL SHOWER
what about FH's friends dates? FH and i were just talking about this...b/c i literally only have like 2 girlfriends (who are both in my BP)...okay maybe 3 (but the 3rd lives in Italy and i will be happy if she makes it for the wedding) i know...very sad. i have a feeling that my friends from work might not show (they usually do showers at work)...so FH was like, 'well you can invite so and so's gf, and so and so's wife'...but i just thought that was weird. what are you girls doing about this?

i was invited to FH's co-worker's fiance's shower. i couldn't make it, but if i didn't have something else to do i had planned on going.
i didn't think it was weird.

Re: YOUR BRIDAL SHOWER
we're just inviting family + super close friends because our families are super big...no coworkers for us (but we're not inviting them to the wedding).

i would think you should invite them ... i am invited to FH friends fiance shower and i met her one time ... i thought you were suppose to invite all the girls on both sides of the wedding list am i wrong

I would say immediate family and close friends. You don't need to invite every woman coming to your wedding.

i am not sure if that is the etiquette in some emily post book but that is not what i am following lol
only family, close friends and close coworkers i have been to showers with less than 20 people but the bride had a wedding with about 200 so i know thats not the case - and i have never been invited to a shower for FH's side that wasnt family, even if i went to the wedding

I just experienced the very same thing. We decided that it would be best to invite only close family and friends and save all aquanitences and coworkers, etc. to invite to the wedding...it helped and then no one will feel excluded either...hope it works out for you...it really is confusing
Yeah, I wouldnt invite EVERY female invited to the wedding. My ex's friend got married, I was invited to the shower for a girl I'd never even met.

LOL i wouldn't have either!
i feel like the shower is supposed to be people that the bride loves surrounding her and 'showering her with gifts'
this IMO shouldnt include your dad's coworkers wife or FH's HS buddy's GF

I agree. Plus, you gotta realize that most people hate going to showers. Its only fun for the bride and the ppl close to her. Otherwise its like 4 hours of hell.

what about my toilet bowl accessories. . . people really DON'T want to see me open them. . .
