Original post by Mizzdimple

Im having a problem, how do you know when to draw the line, who do you invite, who do you not invite!? People from work?, All Family right?

I just experienced the very same thing. We decided that it would be best to invite only close family and friends and save all aquanitences and coworkers, etc. to invite to the wedding...it helped and then no one will feel excluded either...hope it works out for you...it really is confusing

Yeah, I wouldnt invite EVERY female invited to the wedding. My ex's friend got married, I was invited to the shower for a girl I'd never even met.

yeah i kind of HATE that i feel like it is just asking for a gift

PFFT! I didn't go AND I didnt send a gift b/c I totally felt like they were just asking for one.

see i wouldnt see it that way FH and his firend (who i was invited to the shower for his fiance who i only met once ...she live in NJ and FH firend lives here ) go fishing like every weenked and i know he wanted to get them something for the shower ... so if only girls attend how do else do you include the grooms side of friends??

good point - i am close with all of FH's friends GF's so not a problem for me

but as for acquaintances i personally wouldnt want to be invite to their GF's shower

maybe this is were my problem is ... what is considered an acquaintance? ... me nor FH are not inviting anyone that we dont consider a friend to the wedding ... the only exception is maybe a couple people FMIL invited ... even the coworkers my mom invited i know also and talk to (we work together) though i will admit she talks to them more ... are these acuaintances .... should these be the people i dont invite ... i am sorry i am just confused and now worried that maybe i shouldnt invite ceartin people so they dont feel like i am just inviting them ...

Re: YOUR BRIDAL SHOWER

i JUST want to bring up., I used to work in my last job for 3 years., I was unbelivably close to 3 particular ladies and I really dont speak to them anymore than emails., or a quick hello on the phone.

However, im close to a bunch of others that I definatley will invite no questions ask....

Do i invite them all?

I'm inviting everyone who's NAME i have. I'm not inviting my friend Brian's new girlfriend, even though he's my best friend...because i dont know her at all... there is no direct relation to me or either of our families... however...
I think it's nice to be invited. I groan every time i get a shower invite no matter who it's for, but i also thing it's really nice that they'd like me there.
for some reason i dont just see it as a gift grab....
i'll be offended if i'm not invited to my cousin's fiance's shower... and i've never met her....
(although i just realized i probobly wasnt invited b/c i already got the wedding invite! lol oh well)

I don't know. I'm really tempted to keep it to mostly family and close friends. I know how *I've* felt when I recieve an invite in the mail for a shower for someone that I either don't know or barely know. Immediately I start thinking of excuses!

Although I would absolutely just LOOOOVEE to watch Tilde open a toilet brush.

I think it depends on your individual situation. I am a teacher and have been working w/ some people for 5 years. They are some of my closest friends so even thought they are co-workers I couldn't imagine them not being there.

YEA I hate my co-workers!

hope they are not reading...actually they hate me...so if that makes it better....!
