thank you for the tip

yeah alot of times when we go, its when we're already on austin street shopping and then we'll go there to eat so i can definitely get there quick after calling.

Cabana is my favorite on austin street, and unfortunately that place is also so over-crowded most of the time. That bar area is also too small and gets insane

love, love, love cabana. i always get the skirt steak. and their mojitos are delish!

mardi gras is also pretty good. & the french bistro by cabana but it closed.

I love getting their seafood special, salmon special or the chicken and shrimp with tostones. Plus gotta have the coconut shrimp for appetizer YUMMMM now i want cabana lol

Yeah I love mardi gras, their blackened chicken and shrimp is amazing and always get that. Its so filling though but soooo good.

oh what is it called portofino's right? I personally haven't, dont know why i havent. But my dad has and he likes it and my friend and her husband used to go all the time and say its real good.

Yes i went to the one next to the theater. Yeah it was like eh ok, worked for the time to get over my hunger but never went back again.

have you ever tried austin steak house. Its RIGHT by the LIRR in kew gardens, its austin street and lefferts boulevard. The food is so delicious, and its good in the summer because they have an outside section to eat. Plus if youre into beer or your FH is, its also an ale house and they have ALL kinds of beer. Ive even had this pink belgian award winning beer and it was awesome.

yeah i believe it's called portofino. we go to parkside 99% of the time when we want italian cause anytime we go anywhere else we compare them to parkside.

we've never been to austin steak house but i'll def try it out. i'm really into german wheat beer & FH will pretty much try anything. thanks for the tip!

If you love italian and have HUGE appetites go to Ciao Baby in massapequa park or carle place. the food is great- you can order off the menu or they will make whatever you want. the portions are tremendous so you always leave with a shopping bag. but for the price it's great because you get 3 meals out of it. (it's not that exprensive at all)
PS even if you're stuffed order a slice of the 7 layer chocolate cake to go..... you'll thank me in the morning!

you HAVE to go there with your friends then cause it's so delish! and if they don't wanna go, i'm ALWAYS down for some parkside.

i don't know if you like red wine, but if you go try their house red wine. i love it and i'm not a wine type of girl.

Panchos of Bethpage. We love that place. We go there about once a month. It's where we got engaged.

We also like Green Tea Cafe if we are in the mood for Chinese.

Mortons (once a year for our anniversary) is hands-down the best place on the Island for steak.

We don't really go out much. Cheaper and healthier to stay in.

I heard Gallaria closed? Is that true? But yea, that place is AWESOME! That and Guilio Cesare on Ellison Avenue in Westbury- I like to compare them with Galleria- food is very outstanding and comparable.

well as long as we're mentioning nyc, there's also victor's, a cuban place in the theater district; their mojitos are like none i've ever tasted. momofuku ssambar is a restaurant our friend opened recently in union square, and was arguably the best meal we've ever had, and we're die-hard foodies.

i also have to plug belle's in westhampton. i guess it's a cafe/luncheonette type of place, but it has this whole creole thing happening. let's just say that oprah goes there when she comes into the airport on her private jet. it's reasonably priced and incredible. for breakfast there's also maureen's kitchen in smithtown--double mmmmmmmmmm.

ETA: great thread, btw--i need some new dining options

Victors is awesome. I am Cuban so of course, I gotta love Victors!
