Your thoughts needed.....

Re: Your thoughts needed.....

First let me preface my response by saying that I think it truly depends on where a person is in their lives. If a BP member is in the early 20s and still living at home with debt, then my opinion would not apply. However, if the BP member is a more established, self sufficient individual, things are a little different.

I am in agreement with your mother. I think when a gift is given, it should not be directed as to WHEN or HOW that gift should be used. In this case, ultimately, the gift is for you because YOU'd want them all to look and feel a certain way regardless of THEIR level of comfort. JMO.

I also feel that when someone accepts a request to be in a bridal party, they need to consider the costs of what is involved. If they feel it is or may be a financial burden, then perhaps they should not accept. Unless of course that person is not a self-sufficient adult in which case a parent may assume the costs of hair and make up services. The bride has PLENTY of her own expenses in regard to finance. To assume the responsibility of paying for BP services is a lot to ask of ONE person. I know many people will be in disagreement but that's my opinion.

I see both points of view so it's a tough one here. I know I'm going to get them their jewelry and make it something they can wear afterwards. I might also get them a lil bag with their initial on it, that's not wedding related at all and will be brand new when they use it on their own.
