Your thoughts/opinions on favors...

Original post by Xelindrya

In case you haven't seen me chat up in here. My wedding is diverse to say the very least.

Here's what I was thinking...
We are going for a Fall Theme next year. Budget is ultra tight!

You know those little bamboo steamers you get when you sometimes order chinese appetizers?
Well the make even smaller versions of those in box or circle form. That basic theme also happens to be a family favorite for keeping tortillas warm.

I was thinking of taking those and placing a small piece of fabric (to emulate the tortilla thing) of our colors inside then placing the red envelope (to keep with the Chinese thing) inside with a few colored Hershey kisses (you can buy them in wrap colors in Roosevelt Feild) and on top using silk flowers/silk leaves (orange/brown gerber daises & maple leaves) to accent.

If I sound like I'm planning to early, it's cause I have to pay for the wedding myself and make the favors by hand. whoohoo!

just an idea on the money, get the little red envelopes...and for the $1 use the sacajuah(sp?).. gold colored dollar....

i think that would make it more special, and people are less likely(IMO) to spend them....

I like the gold dollar idea - would make it v. special. Or how about chocolate coins? yummy hee hee.

I also went to a chinese wedding - it was very cool - but we got mini champagne as our favor lol. I love your favor tho - very creative.

I also liked the donation idea, if you still want to feel like u are giving $$, but not really lol..

I'm sorry but im so not into donations. I give to charities because I feel they are worthy.. I feel everyone must make their own choices about that.. its really sensitive to me.

I'd rather give them a gold dollar and they can just consider it a favor.

I really love the idea, especially that it's so traditional. If you are trying to save $$$, though, what about putting chocolate gold coins in the envelope?
