Bridesmaid dress doesn't fit! (Warning... Long!)

I went to Pittsburgh this weekend for my second bridal shower... I'll post pics of that soon, and brought my girls their dresses. I get a call about 30 minutes after the shower from my one BM telling me her dress doesn't fit. She can't even zip it past her waist. I freaked and didn't know what I was going to do... but first made sure I called everyone and that they all tried on their dresses, luckily she was the only one.

When I compared her measurements to Raylia's size chart, she definately should have been ordered the next size... I definately felt better knowing that the bridal shop screwed up and not that my BM gained a ton of weight (which she didn't anyways...)

So I went to my bridal shop yesterday afternoon for my second fitting and brought the BM dress with me. I explained the situation, showed them the measurements that they had on file and that she should've had the next size. They said they would figure out what happened and to go for my fitting... my fitting went well by the way, but it needs to be taken in more! I think I lost a couple of more pounds! I'll post pics...

So then after the fitting they had my sis try on the other BM dress that didn't fit, and it fits her everywhere except around her bust... and she can't even zip it there! They brought out the seamstress and she said that she can take it out enough to make my sister fit into this dress, and then have her switch dresses with the other BM so then she will have the correct size. I really hope they can make it work!!

Just Breathe! Good thing you still have some time and that the problems can be fixed.

Re: Bridesmaid dress doesn't fit! (Warning... Long!)

Don't worry, one of my bridesmaids dress was too tight on her that she couldn't fully zip it up and we had to get it let out. It's just a little more expensive to have a dress let out as opposed to taken in. The dress ended up looking gorgeous so don't worry it will work out

Re: Bridesmaid dress doesn't fit! (Warning... Long!)

My BM ordered the sample size dress when it didn't zip up all the way. so when she got her dress it didn't zip up at all. FHs sister is preggo and her dress had to be let out too and the only way to let it out was to make the dress a corset in the back instead of the zipper. The other bm did the same thing. It looks great. HTH.

Re: Bridesmaid dress doesn't fit! (Warning... Long!)

that happened to me for my sisters wedding. They ordered the wrong size, but they made it fit and you would never know. Just make sure that they don't charge more for alterations- because it was their screw up!

Re: Bridesmaid dress doesn't fit! (Warning... Long!)

If anyone understands what you are going through it's definitely me!

I have the same problem...unfortunately there isn't an easy solution for it!

I have an OOT bm who will be 5 months pregnant for my wedding. She had been trying to get pregnant since FH & I got engaged (July '06) so when it came time to order the dresses I asked her if she wanted to order it bigger just in case she got pregnant. She said no, no no, it's not going to happen. WELL.....it happened and unfortunately her dress is a size 6 and as of last month she had increased 3 inches on her bust, 2 inches on her waist, and 2 inches on her hips. To make matters even worse....we tried ordering extra material and it's out of stock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She is coming in from AZ on the 6th of July which is 6 days before the wedding. She is staying at her parents house which is an hour away from where I live and my aunt' s house, the person who has to rush to try to make this dress wearable for her!

What my aunt is going to try to do is raise the dress at the waist. (luckily she is only 5'2')!

Good luck with your dress siutation! I'm sure by swapping the dresses it will work out great!

Re: Bridesmaid dress doesn't fit! (Warning... Long!)

dont worry it will work out, you have enough time for them to fix it. There was an incident at the place they made my bm dresses and all their dresses were delayed, rk bridal was going crazy bc anybody who ordered that designer was late. My girls didnt get dresses until 2 weeks before the wedding and some had alot of alterations to do but it was all done on time. They will just order extra fabric probably and this definitely all can be done before your wedding

I have a pregnant BM too...I didn't even think of that idea of the corset back!
My bm has huge boobs to begin with now that she's pregnant they are ginormous!

The corset thing is a good idea... especially since my sis is the MOH... it would make her stand out from the rest of the BP

OMG I think i'd go crazy if that happened! I think FMIL will have this problem, but it's her own fault... she waited until last week to order her dress... and it won't be in now until 2 weeks before the wedding. And she wants to have a halter strap added. Right...

Re: Bridesmaid dress doesn't fit! (Warning... Long!)

I will be in the same boat...my MOH (sister) deliberately ordered her dress smaller than what actually fit her at the time (she wanted to lose weight) and I am worried that the seamstress will have to take out her dress. It can be done but it's definitely more expensive than having to take it in...their dresses are due in at the end of this month (thank God we have our own seamstress!!!!) and I'm not worried she can't let the dress out...I just don't want her to be stuck paying so much more $$ than she would have if she just ordered one size smaller!!! Hello!!!!

You'll be fine, they do these alterations all the time!
