Kleinfeld's -- worth the trip??
Has anyone been there? Got your dress from there? What is the service like? Prices? Since I'm still searching for my gown... is it worth the trip to brooklyn?

Re: Kleinfeld's -- worth the trip??
I know a lot of girls get their dresses from them--but I went and found the dresses overpriced.

Re: Kleinfeld's -- worth the trip??
Nope. I didn't bother going there with all the stories heard. I got my dress at Estelle's Dressy Dress in Farmingdale, LI, New York. Better price selection, beautiful gowns, friendly and very helpful customer service. I hear Kleinfeld is much nasty customer service if you don't have the $$$$ as they caterer to rich people.

I never participate in threads like this but I just wanted to share something with you. So, just an FYI - Kleinfeld's is under new ownership. They supplied the gown I wore for the last GTG - 'Wedding of the Year'. I can not begin to tell you how wonderful they were. IMHO it's more than worth the trip. Selections are endless and the service was impeccable!Liz

Re: Kleinfeld's -- worth the trip??
I think it is. I got my dress there and I thought they were wonderful. I just think even to go there to experience Kleinfeld's you should.I went to about 10 places on Long Island and did not find anything so I went there last. I knew that the prices were going to be high but I went anyway.
I found my dress there and it is was very reasonable. I was very shocked. Even the saleslady couldn't believe it. I found they were not pushy at all. I think her name was Sophie.
you have nothing to lose.
The downfall I think is just getting there for your fittings and picking up your dress in Brooklyn when you are on Long Island.
Good Luck

Re: Kleinfeld's -- worth the trip??
Absolutly worth the trip! I searched for months and I finally bought it at Kleinfeld's! They have been so wonderful to me as well. Some dresses are expensive but the quality is great. My dress was only about $1500 and it's gorgeous.I would defently go just to check it out. In my opinion worth going!
Good luck!

Re: Kleinfeld's -- worth the trip??
I read an article in the knot wedding magazine about how Kleinfeld's new ownership jacked up the dresses prices by hundreds of dollars, but mostly because before them Kleinfelds wasn't making any business. (or something to that effect).Go there, try on the dresses just be wary of the prices. I personally never went b/c you had to put a deposit down on the appt and with all the traveling I didn't want to risk it.

Re: Kleinfeld's -- worth the trip??
I did buy my dress there - the service was very personable and very helpful - they gave me a 15% discount for buying on the spot. I have to admit - the drive from Suffolk (where my mom & sister live) and even from Queens (where I live) can be treachorous with traffic (avoid the BQE if possible) -I almost didn't buy it there for that reason. But I would definitely recommend a trip - they have a huge selection and can be quite reasonable if you look hard enough (they have numerous trunk shows and they offer discounts during them) I say try it!!

Re: Kleinfeld's -- worth the trip??
For tradition's sake, you have to go to Kleinfeld. It has the largest selection and you are able to get a general idea about what type of dresses you like. I'm sure it's also reliable (it won't go out of business!) Here are the downsides (reasons why I did not end up buying there):1. It's so far away and takes forever to get to - I couldn't see myself going for 2-3 fittings there!
2. When you go, they make you try on every dress they bring in - even if you hate it - we wasted a lot of time at my appointment trying on dresses we knew we wouldn't like.
About prices - we didn't find that they were significantly more expensive than other places - I did find a dress I loved similar to the one I saw at Kleinfeld at Bridal Reflections, and the price was comparable.

Re: Kleinfeld's -- worth the trip??
I bought my dress at their sample sale, and had the best experience. My sales person, Rosario, was amazing. She knew exactly what style of dress would look best on me. They carry the biggest designers so the prices are a bit high. They had another sample sale a week or two ago. I posted a thread about it.If nothing else, it will be a great experience because they are so helpful.
Good Luck.

You have to put a deposit down in order to make an appointment? Or they expect you to put a deposit down on your dress that day?

Re: Kleinfeld's -- worth the trip??
I had a wonderful experience there. I didn't even bother going to any other stores, as I bought my gown on the spot. The woman at the front desk was a little snotty, but my salesperson (whatever they're called) was fabulous. She knew what I wanted even though I couldn't put it into words. And even though she did make me try on dresses that I knew I wouldn't like, it was very helpful in narrowing down what it was that I DID like.Highly recommended!!

Re: Kleinfeld's -- worth the trip??
Yeah, they take a $50 deposit to make an appt. If you don't show up they charge you, if you do show up, then they don't. I think it is to ensure that people will show up for appts.

Re: Kleinfeld's -- worth the trip??
It is absolutely worth the trip!! I found the prices to be the same as the other salons. The service is great. I would have never found my dress if I did not go there. Many of their dresses are exclusive to the store.

Re: Kleinfeld's -- worth the trip??
I know you are havigntrouble finding a dres, so If i wer ein your position, I owuld think gign to Europe to find a dress, would be worth it!
However, keep in mind, if you find something you'll have to go there about 3 more tiems for alterations, unless you take it soemhere else when it comes in.
I've never been there, but my friend got a gorgeous dress there, but it was a little more expensive than she planned to spend, but it may have the style/designer she chose. She didn't preice it anywhere else.
If you don't go, i think you need to make a lsit like MR. Hostility did with his reception halls, of places you've been & we'll throw some ideas out to you.
Seriously, I'm on the edge of my seat about your dress & his hall & I don't even know either one of ya.

Re: Kleinfeld's -- worth the trip??
I'm actually headed to Kelinfeld's this afternoon. I found a dress there months ago that I loved and I haven't been able to find anything that sparks my interest more so I'm going back to get it. As for the service, my saleswoman started off a bit snotty, but once I said something to her, her attitude improved. Let me ellaborate... she asked what kind of dress I was looking for and what price range. When I told her I was looking to spend under $2000 she said that I wanted to look at their 'low-end' dresses. I just looked at her and and said, 'last time I checked, $2000 is still a lot of money to spend on a dress you're only going to wear once!' She appologized and everything from that point on was fine. It turns out that the dress I love is only $1200. They have a large selection of expensive dresses and more affordable ones. Don't let them push you around or spend more than your budget.Other than that, I would suggest going there, if for nothing else than having a large selection so you can narrow down what you like. And don't forget to have fun!

Re: Kleinfeld's -- worth the trip??
Actually, I just wanted to add my 2 cents about the price thing - the girl asked what my budget was, and my mom threw out some ridiculous number, and the girl said 'oh honey, I can get you something stunning for much much less than that.'So they are very willing to work with you if you have a budget in mind.

Re: Kleinfeld's -- worth the trip??
I think it's Definitely worth the trip!! I would go just to get the Kleinfeld experience, if nothing else. The store is gorgeous, the gowns are gorgeous, and the sales people are extremely helpful and extremely knowledegable about what gowns will compliment you best! I went on a sample sale day and didn't think I would find anything (I already had my heart set on another dress.) But I found 'The One' there!! It was a trunk show sample in beautiful condition, and I got it for half price!!
