NWR...Hammerstein Ballroom Concert Seating??? Anyone been there?

So I just bought tickets to a concert at Hammerstein Ballroom. I didn't know that there was seating, I thought it was all standing room, so I bought the floor tickets. Of course I realized after I purchased them that I could have had a freakin seat! Anyway, if you've been to a concert there, please tell me how it is on the floor?? I saw that the doors open at 6:30 and the concert starts at 8:00. Am I going to be like all the way in the back of the room if I don't get there at 6:30. This stinks!!! I hope it's not that bad.

No, there is no seating on the floor level. They do that to guesstimate how many people they can fit on the floor. It gets crowded closer to the stage, but there's plenty of standing room in the middle and back depending on what kind of show it is.
They do offer seating, but that's on the upper mezzazine.

And of course FH tells me that his friend (that's coming with us) remembers sitting the last time he was there. I was like if you would have told me that I would have looked into it and gotten those tickets. ARRRRGGGHHHH. I'm so annoyed. Thankfully, it's only Keane so it won't be like headbanging mosh crap. Ha ha, all the shows i've been to there are 'headbanging mosh crap'

Hammerstein is basically like a big auditorium with the stage in front, then the floor, and the seats are only in the balcony in the back and on the sides.. so in my opinion the floor is much much better for seeing the band anyway.
You don't have to worry about getting there at 6:30 to get in and get a good spot. Especially if there are any opening bands. People usually dont get there until just before the band they want to see comes on anyway. And if you get there and the floor is crowded, all you have to do is say 'excuse me' and work your way up to a spot you'd rather be at.

Thanks I feel much better now :) Especially knowing I dont have to stand for an hour and half to wait for the band, lol. I guess I worry too much.

I have been to a lot of concerts at Hammerstein. No seating on the floor, but a nice venue none the less. I used to go to punk shows and we used to just push our way into the crowd, so I assume it would be the same way.

Show up at like 7 ish. If doors are at 6:30 they probably won;t start letting people in until 7 (they are usually late)

Floor seating is better than having actual seats. You get to be close to the band which is really cool. Those are always the best seats. I would always get there early, say 3 so I could be one of the first people on line. Then once the doors opened I would run to get my spot by the stage. I don't think I would be able to stand for that long anymore without getting tired.

Listen, i've been there a ton of times (and to MANY other shows) and there is no way you need to be there that early. In fact you'll be laughed at.

If the band you want to see goes on at 8, you can get there at 7:30 (the line will be inside by then and you wont' have to wait). If there's a crowd inside, you can always easily push your way up thru the crowd to where you want to be.
If you get there early, all you're going to be doing is standing around for a long time and the people who get there later will push their way up to where you are anyway.

Don't stress to much about it!
