Pearl Harbor Day-December 7th -Help!

Is this not a good day to get married because the significance of the day? This is the day that is available, it is a Sat, at my reception site and now the family all of a sudden is freaking out that it is not a good day to get married and the 'invitations will go out saying the 7th'. Help, please let me know what you think. I can't believe that no one is getting married on this Saturday because it is Pearl Harbor Day, let me know what you think please!

Dec 7th is my birthday!!!!

Dec 7th is my birthday and I cant imagine people saying anything about your wedding being on that date. I cant imagine anybody not getting married because it is Dec 7th.

It's my FI birthday too!

It wouldn't matter to me to have my wedding on Dec. 7. You do what you want... it's your wedding! I don't think of Dec. 7th as Pearl Harbor Day, I think of it as my FI B-day! Majority of people shouldn't care, don't worry about it.

This may sound bad..

but if I got the invitation, Dec 7 would not ring in my head as Pearl Harbor day. First, I think a lot of people wouldn''t put it together, and secondly, I don''t think there is anything disrespectful about getting married on that day. I think it''s fine. Go for it!

My friends mom got remarried this past year on Dec 7th at Pearl Harbor while they were in Hawaii on vacation -- so I wouldn't worry about it at all -- if they can do it at the site of the incident I don't think it's a big deal to do it here. There are many dates that have significance that we probably don't ever think about. Have a great day and enjoy!

My sister was married last year on Pearl Harbor day. She did not realized it until after she booked. But I agree with the others there is nothing wrong with getting married on Dec. 7th. It is not disrespectful.

Friends of mine got married on Dec. 7 a couple of years ago, and nobody was offended by it. Actually, the groom picked that date because of Pearl Harbor!! Pick whatever date you want and enjoy yourself!

The date is fine

Honestly, unless you had a family member (such as an Uncle) killed or wounded in Pearl Habor. Then I wouldn't get married on that date. But other than that the date is fine. If we took out every date that something 'bad' happened there would be very few weddings.

The date is fine

In 20 years, people will probably start getting married on 9/11 again....I think it will ring an immediate bell for the older folks who remember it clearly, but it wouldn't really for me. I don't think there is anything wrong with it really, but make sure it is not something you are always going to think about!

It is an important day but life goes on. Just like 50 something years from now people will still get married on 9-11.
