Sands Point Preserve

anyone look at or know anything about the place? interested to know pricing, see pictures if you've been there, etc? i saw an old thread from june with some comments regarding no a/c or heat and being run by a chaotic non-profit? can anyone attest?

Re: Sands Point Preserve

I don't know much about having events there, but the grounds are beautiful, and the castle & mansion are wonderful. I would think (IMO) since they aren't filming at the mansion anymore they *might* do events there. FH & I live close and we like to go hiking there.

Re: Sands Point Preserve

This place is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. I was dead set on taking pictures here, however whoever runs the events/photo session department is NOT on their game.

I called a few times and was told that they would NOT book you until a month before your event. However, I just called back recently after hearing my friend's horror story(they told her they were open.... then decided that they were filming a movie) with them and they told me that they were already booked on my day. I was so upset, but I hope that you have better luck!!!

They definitely do not make it easy.

Re: Sands Point Preserve

I'd take a drive (if you aren't too far) and go look at the site. It's $5 for parking, but you can make a day out of it if you want. They were filming Running Wilde at the mansion while the show was still on. I do know that every know and again they will film movies there too.

Re: Sands Point Preserve

ah! i can happily say that by far, the most beautiful wedding ive ever been to was at the hempstead house on the sands point preserve. they had a fountain in the middle of the dance floor!

this wedding had to have been at least 100k. of course i cant remeber the catering company they used, and i recall hearing that they had an insane site fee on top of that. if money is no object, then this might be the place for you!

In order to take pictures there for a photoshoot you have to have a permit that costs $300 (if you want inside the castle/estate) Outside I believe is $150.
My fiance and I scheduled our engagement pictures there and you book over the phone but pay the day of.

We canceled it because we didn't have the $$ to spare right now. It is very lovely though if you can afford it.

I just called and the lady was very 'to the point', I did not even give my date and she told me they were booked up???? Then I had her get more sepific and she was only mentioning for the next 30 days. She did tell me that I should not call back until May, but no promises and how I could get bumped for a film....how many times is the place used for a film in a year?? WOW. i really want to take pics here, but it is scary that they can bump you at any moment. Old Westbury Gardens is about the same price for outside only, but if it rains you could get the inside. IDK, I think I will start to call in April...

Yes we were booked for our engagement photos but we canceled it. It was $250-$300 for pictures inside the castle, 2 hours with all day outside or just $150 (in that range) for outside only.
