St. Mary's Church in East Islip?

Has anyone been married there?
I'm still deciding if I should get married at the ceremony site or at the church?
Are they helpful? Do they have any requirments on dress code for bride and bridesmaids?

Re: St. Mary's Church in East Islip?

I WILL BE GETTING MARRIED THERE ON 3/27/04.
SO FAR THEY HAVE BEEN VERY NICE.
I DON'T OF ANY REQUIREMENTS ABOUT WHAT YOU OR YOUR BRIDESMAID CAN WEAR. YOU CAN ALWAYS CALL THE RECTORY AND ASK. THEY SEEM NICE.

Re: St. Mary's Church in East Islip?

OMG I went there for Grade school and when you just said mrs cunningham I swear to you that a butt load of memories came flowing out. They are so nice there. Once upon a time father jim was there and he was the bestest!! But then he got a radio show nad went to st john the baptist Anyway, from what I can remember (this was 10+ years ago) they did not have any restrictions.

Aww, DLW, you made me so sad with the father Jim story, but it's just like a movie...Father Jim, radio personality!
Sorry, it's just that late at night, my imagination runs absolutely wild!

He was soo awesome! The teachers would get mad at him because he would do screaming contests in the middle of the day. He would just walk in the middle of a class and yell...on the count of 3 yell as loud as you can! And I think he would buy pizza for the winners.

Re: St. Mary's Church in East Islip?

I went to a wedding there this past Saturday and it was very nice. It is such a pretty church! The bride and her MOH wore strapless gowns so I wouldn't worry about a dress code.

Re: St. Mary's Church in East Islip?

I went for my meeting today.
They were very nice.
i had to sign forms that I wasn't really allowed to read. I glanced at one and it said I promised to raise my kids Catholic.
The priest never discussed it though and his hand was covering most of the words.
I said I would not lie to the priest about this issue. I want to get married in the Church but I am not committed to raising my kids Catholic (my FI is Hindu). The priest was very liberal (almost as if he didn't want to push this idea about the kids).
But I don't know if this is going to become an issue at some point.
We filled out the Foccus form tonight and it asked about how we would raise the kids. I guess I'll wait and see what happens.
Do they want the truth or do they want me to just sign the forms and go along with everything?
