Anyone have any ideas on how to word an invitation to a bows only shower? My sister/MOH needs help figuring it out and I told her my LIW girls could probably help! Thanks!

Re: wording for bows only shower?

i love this and have been telling my MOH that i want this at my shower. my interpretation of this is that the gifts basically come unwrapped, with a bow only, so that you aren't sitting there opening gifts for 3 hours.

i was just at a shower where it wasn't on the invite but guests were told in advance that the bride would not be opening gifts. it was brilliant and everyone was able to chat and hang out which is exactly what i want.

Wow, now that I have a better understanding...what a GREAT idea!!!!!

If someone can think of how the invitation can be worded, I would love to see it.

Re: wording for bows only shower?

Sounds interesting but if that is the same idea as the 'be a dear, wrap with clear' invites that i have seen, FMIL will HATE it. I am going to be unwrapping for hours!

Sorry, I dont have a poem for that. Google?

yes, i'm definitely curious to see if anyone has any input on wording. if not, i'm going to ask them to spread that word that i'm not opening presents.

Re: wording for bows only shower?

I just went to a shower where the bride requested unwrapped gifts.

It was a normal invite but at the bottom is just said 'Unwrapped Gifts Welcome'

I don't think anyone wrapped anything and it saved on her having to open everything up plus she really wanted to be 'green' about the whole thing. It worked out nicely. There were a few gifts in gift bags but she can reuse those if she chooses.

Re: wording for bows only shower?

i found this on the '08 board

It's time for (bride's name) Bridal Shower
And for us girls to have some fun,
So we're trying something different
And we hope that you can come...

Please wrap your gift in celophane
or leave it unwrapped, you see,
We'll have more time to socialize
And visit with the bride-to-be...

this can be on an insert with the invitation

Re: wording for bows only shower?

We had my daughter's shower last month and did clear wrapping

'Be a dear, wrap in clear'

It was great! Guests loved the idea - got see see all the presents and didn't even need to unwrap them!

Re: wording for bows only shower?

Thanks for the opinions, girls! And you figured out what I was talking about while I was an absentee poster! It's a shower with bows only, so I can still have fun opening things (kinda) and with the hat/bouquet, but it's greener and takes a lot less time! We're also trying to figure out how to do shower games that don't depend on the unknowns of wrapped gifts!

Re: wording for bows only shower?

I want to do something like this also. I hate how long brides have to spend doing gifts and not engaging with her guests. How about something like this? (I came up with it myself, lol)

The heck with traditional bridal showers--
Unwrapping gifts can last for hours!
Save some trees, some time, and some green--
With unwrapped gifts that are easily seen!
Our blushing bride will surely glow
If you'd top your gift with just a bow!
