I LOOOOVE this thread hahaha

ok other restaurants not on the list, 718 like i mentioned before. Its spaniard and french fusion and food is AMAZING. The inside is very cozy and romantic. They have an awesome brunch there too.

I just posted about this on the 08 thread hahaha. But theres a place called Euro's in astoria on 45th street and ditmars right on the corner. Its a small hidden secret hahaha. Its spaniard food and feels like youre eating at someones home, its cozy. The owner is this spanish woman and its run by her family, her kids work there. The owner takes the orders and serves you too so gives you more of that home feeling and food is delicious.

Ponticello-great italian restaurant

Gotta mention Cavo, the place looks AMAZING, the outdoor garden area with water fountains then separate lounge area and restaurant. Love this place

I also love cafe bar, its right by kauffman studios. Its a nice low key place to get drinks. Love their crepes too and sandwiches.

LIC-riverview is across the street from gantry park. The inside is romantic and beautiful, and the food is so delicious. Great view of the city skyline and has outdoor seating

water taxi is awesome. I went recently and wish i had went more in the summer. Its right on the water so you have an amazing view, they have a tented area with a dancefloor and great music. The rest of the area is on sand and has picnic type tables around and big bar area on the other side.

Hmmmm let me see what else i think of hahaha

sniff sniff I miss living in Astoria!
I just love how easy it was to get into the city, and I loved the homey, yet city feeling of the town. I miss 31st Street, Astoria Park, McCann's, the Beer Garden.....it was a great time in my life when I lived there so I also miss those good ol' days.

Re: Astoria/LIC lovers!

How did I miss this post??

Let's see....I love so much about this place and I'm going to miss it sooooo much when we move next month. If you work in the city but can't afford to live there, Astoria's really the best place to live, hands down. It's the best mix of city life and residential life I've found. We live right by the train, are in midtown in less than 15 minutes, have the most wonderful restaurants within blocks of our apt., have beautiful Astoria Park nearby, the water, shopping. We park our car near our house, never really have a problem with finding a spot. We're not ready to make the move to the suburbs yet and don't know that we ever want to so for us, it's the best.

Trattoria L'Incontro
Piccola Venezia
Fatty's Cafe
Brick Cafe
La Guli Italian Pastry Shop
Rosario's Deli
The Beer Garden

Those are my favorite food places and all but 2 I could throw rocks at from my place. Most of all though I love the people here. It's homey and comfortable and everyone looks out for each other here. The shopkeepers know you and you know them, you see the same people on the corner, it's safe to walk down the street at night, i never feel worried or that I shouldn't go down a certain block. Though it's absolutely mostly a Greek neighborhood still, there's so many different kinds of people and we LOVE that. We love learning new things and eating new foods. It's an exciting way to live.

Yay..I'm an LIC girl too! Where are you?

I grewup here, but just moved back after thw wedding...totally bookmarking this site as DH has NEVER been to Astoria and I keep telling him we should take a ride or walk through so I can show him all that's there.

I'm down the block from the piers in LIC...my favorite thing...looking at the empire state building when I sit on my front stoop!
