Hotel Recs Please - ROME! :)
Ok so we're trying to plan a trip to Italy (Rome & Tuscany region) for either around memorial day or labor day. I've been searching through different hotels but there are so many to choose from!Anyone have any reccomendations on where to stay in either place?? TIA!

Re: Hotel Recs Please - ROME! :)
Hotel Visconti Palace. DH and I went on a tour of Italy for our Honeymoon last year and this was our hotel at the start of the tour. We actually arrived in Rome 3 days before the tour started so we spent some time there. You can walk EVERYWHERE from this hotel. It is literally in the center of the city right by the Tiber River. It was a great hotel and we loved it.In Tuscany, we stayed in Montecatini Terme, kinda of a spa resort area in Tuscany. The hotel we stayed at was Hotel Esplanade Settentrionale. Kind of an older hotel but its in a cute area and it has really nice charm to it.
We did a tour of the entire country (except Sicily) so if you need any other recommendations or ideas, let me know! I had the time of my life on this trip so any chance I get to relive it is more than welcomed!!

well we havent stayed yet but we wanted a place right on or right by via vittoria veneto but of course the prices were crazy, we ended up choosing la piccola maison, a little different kind of hotel. great reviews, ive gotten great customer service so far and the prices were phenominal and modern updated rooms. at the corner of via veneto and via de cappuccinihttp://www.lapiccolamaison.com/
eta: will be there the first week of april

Via Veneto is so much fun to walk through but is totally unaffordable. Visconti Palace is walking distance to Via Veneto and nearby Piazza del Popolo (what I call the Central Park of Rome).

Inn at the Roman Forum. It's a little hotel in the heart of ancient Rome. It's within walking distance of everything in ancient Rome and it doesn't look like a hotel from the outside. It was really comfortable and they offered free 'snacks' from 6 to 8 which DH and I ate as a meal to save some money on food. Also Lord Byron which is on the other side of Rome near the Borghese gardens. It's in a more upscale neighborhood but not very close distance to many attractions.
