just did dmv a few weeks ago. it was a pita.

didnt do ss yet.

did bank. got new atm card.

thats it so far-its been 8 months

It was pretty painless. Took about an hr and then did the passport and cc stuff by mail

I am not changing my name. Don't understand why I have to change my name because I got married, you know?

Maybe its the feminist in me but because I am a woman and married I must now be called by another name. It feels weird and wrong, I actually have a stomach pain when I think about it.

I don't mind if people call me Mrs. P or address invites to us this way but I want to remain who I was, have been and will continue to be....it just feels unnatural to me.

Plus I always get compliments on my name!

This is exactly what made me decide not to change my name! I always thought I wouldn't care since I hated my name to begin with, but then when it came down to it, it made me feel sick to think about it. Weird.

ss office was about 20mins.

the dmv was about 1hour. that includes me standing outside waiting for it to open.

btw, i was more than happy to change my name

I changed my name at the DMS and SS the day after we got back from our HM (I never would have done it if i did not do it then)
I changes some CC's, bank accounts and work info.
My car and car insurance - we put out policies together and saved $600

I still have to change my passport and 1 CC

I haven't yet. Reason being is that I'll be traveling soon and the bookings were made in my maiden name, so I'm waiting until after that.

Not looking forward to it, that's for damn sure!

Same here....heading to our HM this weekend, so I thought I could hold off until I get back to make this name changing stuff official.

I am gonna miss my last name, but look forward to moving up the alphabetical chain from S to A. Woot Woot!!

I haven't done anything but SS and work yet, won't do DMV or passport yet because have travel planned every month through December! I guess I can do it beginning of 2011!

I'm also still on fence about changing my work e-mail address....I'm thinking about keeping it as my maiden name...

i did it about a month ago and it was pretty easy..just get there when everything opens..we got to dmv at 815 for 830 opening and there was 50 people on line already
