On the topic of food again...

Let's post our favorite dinner party recipes. I just had all my BP over to watch the video and I had and Italian themed party. We played the mob hits cd's (which are very fun) and here was my menu:

Apps:
Brushetta
Spinach and Articoke Dip

Dinner:
Ceasar Salad
Hot Bread
Chicken Marsala
Rigatoni with italian sausage, green and red peppers and onions in a light red sauce.

Dessert:
Homemade tiramisu and mini-canolis
Gelato (Italian ice cream)
Coffee

Share your dinner party ideas!

Re: On the topic of food again...

I make a killer cheesecake (a few actually). I also make a good lasgna and pot roast (not together). I love stuffed breads and dips as apps.

What is the homemade canolis recipe? I have never made those before.

At my last dinner party I had bruschetta, cheese & crackers, and pigs in a blanket for apps. For dinner: salad, sausage & peppers, chicken marsala, pasta w/ broccoli, roasted red potatoes.

Re: On the topic of food again...

It depends on what type of party I'm having. I have a antipasta/mezes/tapas party which is fun:
Spinach Pie (spanikopita triangles)
Hummus
Baba Ganoush w/Pita
Shrimp with tequila, lime sauce
bruschetta
antipasta (salami, cheese, olives, etc)
roast potatoes w/ home made garlic mayo.. (so good)
sliced london broil w. red wine reduction
italian white bean salad

Or I do the italian thing that I can do in my sleep:

Tossed Salad
Antipasta, same as above
stuffed mushrooms
Fresh Marinara Sauce w/ Meatballs and Sausage
escarole or broccoli rabe

sfinge for dessert (sorta like a zeppoli but made w/ riccota)

Re: On the topic of food again...

Michele, I found a store here in Texas that sells the canoli shells from Ferara's bakery in Little Italy. All that is in the creme is ricotta cheese, confectionary sugar, a teaspoon of vanilla and a dash of cinnamon. I also added chocolate chips. The recipe was actually on the canoli shell box. And they were delicious...like the bakery! My next project will be to make a cake with the canoli fillind now that I know the recipe.

Re: On the topic of food again...

I LOVE having people over for dinner and drinks. At my last dinner party I made:

champagne rum punch
spinach and artichoke dip with pita triangles
grilled tomatoes with garlic, herbs, balsamic vinegar
cheese triangles
for dinner: sea bass cuban style (GREAT recipe from all recipes.com) over herb rice with green beans sauteed in basil and garlic.

Re: On the topic of food again...

Brunch - I LOVE brunch!

Mimosa & Bloody Mary's
Spinach and feta omelets
Western omelets
Whole grain and nut pancakes
Belgian Waffles topped w/fresh fruit
Ham steaks
Roasted potatoes and/or homefries
Quiche Lorraine
Fresh sweet breads like date nut bread, banana bread, apple cinnamon bread, cranberry orange, etc.

To me, just about anything is great for brunch...it all depends on what you like.
