On average...how much does an Oil change cost???

my car is a lease so i usually bring it to the dealership and they do it there...i had a couple for free and then i remember paying maybe $30??

DH brought his car for an oil change the other day and i look at our bank statement today and i see
a charge for $107 from jiffy lube!!

he tries to explain that cuz my car is on warrente thats why its cheaper...but i really think he just did all this extra stuff to his car that they try to talk you into when you go for an oil change that prob is good for the car, but really not necessary...stuff that when you are broke and have a mortage and a crap load of other bills to pay is really not that important!!!

im pretty sure he is just saying thats how much it costs so i dont yell at him for spending extra money!

I think the very most I ever was charged for an oil change was $42, and that seemed ridiculous to me. Most of the time it was closer to $30 or $35.

A lot of the time they'll check your fan belts while you're there for an oil change and those can add up to another $50 really quickly, but you have to change them or you'll fail your emissions testing that year, so you might as well do it right way. Maybe it was something like that? I don't know why he wouldn't just tell you what was done to the car... if DH had a $107 bill on our bank statement, I'd fully expect him to explain what it was for, so I totally understand where you're coming from!

I think we pay $30. I don't think I've ever paid more than that.

jiffy lube is a ripoff ... you can get an oil change for $20-25 in most places.

Ive gone to Jiffy lube and I've never paid more than $40 and typically its much less. Is it possible he said yes to one of the other services they offer?
They will usually ask if you want your air filter changed.

every time i've gone to jiffy lube, they told me an oil change was $52 (or something in that vicinity) ... i always say 'f- no' and drive elsewhere

most likely thats what he did!! he just doesnt wanna tell me cuz he thinks i would bug out! and i kinda am, but i think its funny that i thinks im dumb enough to believe that an oil change is $100!!!!

i play it off good tho so he doesnt get mad at me for getting on him about spending money!

I hate Jiffy Lube, they always sell you extra stuff and it ends up costing at least $100 for an oil change, I won't bring my car anymore because of this, I make DH take my car so he can say NO

dealerships are anywhere between 30-50.

my hyundai is about 35 after everything

brought hubby's ford in and its 47!

Wow, for a standard oil change that's insanely expensive. They must have added on extra things like a filter, etc.

i went to jiffy lube once and they tried talking me into soooooo many other services they said i needed the bill wouldve been like 200............thank god i married a mechanic!!! oil changes are free now!! but in the past ive paid around $30 -50 depending on what else i needed

jiffy lube is more expensive (about $40), but that's waaay more than they usually charge. are you sure he didn't get you special top of the line oil or add in an air filter? they usually ask you if you want those sort of things, so your DH might not have been paying attention .

We usually pay about $35 and we get a free car wash with it!
