sorry Becki ... another gift question.

i mentioned a few weeks ago that DH's friend is having a party for his 2 kids - one for graduating high school, and one for his first communion (he's 12 i think) ...

we're gonna get the kids gift cards ... but any ideas to where?

DH was thinking of Game Stop for the boy, but it seems weird to me to buy a video game gift cert for a communion, no?

Re: sorry Becki ... another gift question.

lol i'm in a better mood now. its cool.

i dont feel like a communion is something you need to give a material gift. i dont remember getting gifts from mine.

but i sure remember two years ago when my mom handed all my communion money and bonds over to me.

helped pay for the wedding.

just saying.

we have two communions the next two weekends. we're giving them bonds. so the kids actually get to have the money instead of the parents.

Re: sorry Becki ... another gift question.

I would do cash or checks for both. Most of these gifts are for the kids but I would say both are for savings purposes.

Re: sorry Becki ... another gift question.

I would do cash for both... I wouldn't do GCs for a communion or graduation.

Re: sorry Becki ... another gift question.

Def money for the communion and if the one graduating is going away to school maybe a BBB gift card to help out with dorm items.

Re: sorry Becki ... another gift question.

we wanted to do bonds originally but we'd need the kids' social security numbers ... so we obv can't do that.

cash sounds good to me ... easier than going to stores and buying gift cards

thanks everyone
