UTI rant & tmi question!!!

i am having the longest lasting uti ever. im in misery here...after just going off BCP after 9 years, i just realized why i had so many uti's in college. i was such a ****!

my question is have any of you had a problem with lubricated condoms and uti's? i stopped using the ones with spermicide cuz that definitely was causing them. i cant seem to find any definitive info online about the lubrication causing utis.

This isn't an exact answer to your question, but unfortunately antibiotic resistant UTI's are more and more common. I had to take two forms of antibiotics to knock mine out. What antibiotics have you tried? Cipro didn't do it for me. I needed a round of Sulfa to finally get rid of mine.

i don't use any condoms that say they have nonoxyl 9 (sp?) in them. even if it says it doesn't have spermicide in them, nonoxyl 9 can still be in the lube!

im taking cipro and AZO or whatever its called. its way better than it was before but i still feel it.

I was trying to research what are the ingredients in the lube on the condoms but i couldnt find it! can yuo beleive its not on the condom or the website?!

Sometimes I get them, but it depends on what's going on down there. Like positioning and moistness and a variety of other things (but you can always generally feel it and you kinda go, 'uh oh, this isn't good'). Try to make sure you go to the bathroom right afterwards, that helps. For the other issues, I've had to learn to say, 'either we stop and don't have sex now, or we don't have sex for another week because I'm not a happy camper down there.' I wonder if it's the same kind of stuff for you too.

I always pee right after sex... i also dont wear thongs anymore only cotton undies... i had a chronic problem with UTIs when i was younger...

I take Acidophilus and cranberry pills once a week regardless if i feel a uti or not...

I found something online called Natures Remedy that also helped... i mix it with cranberry juice and orange juice because it has a horrible taste...

If i do all these things as soon i dont need anitbiotics...

i also take cystex when i feel it too... its like a pain killer

for me its just the condoms. i always practice all those methods afterwards and drink tons of cranberry juice regularly. I think im allergic to condoms or the lube!!

I don't think that would cause it at all. I used to get them every couple of months and my doctor never mentioned condoms as a reason, but I know not peeing after sex will cause them. Are you on antibiotics bc that's the only thing that will clear it up. If it don't work, the doctor should try a different one. I was actually taking a low dose of some medicine he prescribed after sex each time and now I don't even need to take them anymore bc I no longer get them..
