spinoff to : guests inviting guests on the RSVP

ok, So this seems to be an issue for the majority of us. Is there a way that we can word it on the RSVP cards so that no one can add an extra ininvited guest?
For example:

The favor of a reply is requested
Please respond by
June nineteenth
M_________________________
Will_______________________
# of guests __2___
# of guests __1___

maybe the number in the guests slot can be written in before they get mailed out.

Any other ideas?

Re: spinoff to : guests inviting guests on the RSVP

my sister ran into this problem with some of her FH's family. When she explained that they have a limited guest list one of his family members actually said 'well then why didn't you have a buffet so more people could come?'

UNBELIEVABLE!!!

I think your suggestion is a good one!

Re: spinoff to : guests inviting guests on the RSVP

that's an excellent suggestion! I wish I had seen this prior to me writing and sending invitations out. Despite the fact that I specifically wrote outside the invite to Ms.....and guest, they still felt compelled to add extra guests, although the invite was addressed to them. I failed at not writing the number down, as I originally wanted.

Re: spinoff to : guests inviting guests on the RSVP

ppl will be rude, no matter what! we had on our rsvps

'___ places have been reserved in your honor'

and we filled in the number...and they just had to 'accept w/pleasure' or 'declined with regret'.

most ppl just checked yes or no, but we did have some that actually had the balls to cross out the # we put and add more.

Excuse me!!! Cross out what nerve do people have. I put in the numbers and we are already getting the calls. Can I bring this person and this person? I just told them kindly that I would have to see at the end if I have alot of people that cannot make then that person their asking to come can then come. But why don't people understand that you invited who you wanted and if you wanted more you would have invited that person also.

Re: spinoff to : guests inviting guests on the RSVP

Our cards only say,

M_________________
_____accept w/pleasure
_____decline with regret

I wonder if not giving the option of 'how many' will be more of a problem than having asked. I guess I was just assuming that people would know that the invite was for whom ever it was addressed to. hmmm, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I did the same - I have inner envelopes with the FIRST names on them, so if they add someone to the RSVP they are going to have a crazy bride on their hands
