is everyone happy with their financial status at the moment?
obviously, we can always use more money but aside from that, do you feel you are where you should be financially?
i dont! i feel like we should have waaaaaaaaaaay more in the bank! it kills me! and we are no where ready to buy a house like i thought we would be!

Same here. I'm fine with the 'walking around' cash that we have......but I definitely wish we had more in our savings.

same here! we just moved so we had to buy our 'adult' furniture etc so that was costly! everytime we mean to save, something comes up...
grr!!

right now we are exactly where i expected to be after the wedding.
we paid for everything in cash SO all of our gifts are in the bank and we add to it every month. We are paying off some interest free credit cards for things like our mattress, furniture and electronics. we have no other credit card debt. AND we just bought a car so we are going to begin paying that off too.
We are halfway to my down payment goal for our house fund with one year and nine months left rent free in our apartment.
We don't spend on much but we do go out to eat once in a while and we are plan on keeping up our tradition of one big trip each year. . .

Im glad we were able to save money from our wedding to put towards a home....but now with this home we will definitly be 'wasting' less money on stuff, taking less trips, and just in general cutting back on spending.

not at all. we only have a fraction of what we need for a down payment for a house. we are whittling our debt back little by little, but we are just so tired of renting. we want to own.

Girls must I remind you all, look where we live? I told my grandfather in Florida how much I pay a month for my house and he didn't believe me. Mind you he told my dad when he and my mom bought their first house, that he was crazy spending 30K for a house. LOL

if DH didn't own his condo, we'd be in trouble! we plan on selling and using the $$ for a down payment on a house. but we are still trying to save as much as we can so we can get as big a down payment as possible. we're also buying a new car this week. we still do spend more than we should, our reasoning being that once we do buy a house, it'll really all have to stop.

We were very fortunate to have our parents handle the wedding costs for us, so our wedding gifts are in the bank in a money market collecting interest, and will not be touched until we buy a house (hopefully soon).
We sat down and calculated how much more per month it would cost us to have a house ... and we are putting the difference into that money market each month. That allows us to have a forced savings each month until we buy a house, and gives us a chance to make sure we can live on the amount of money we think we can.
Its been working out just fine for the last few months
I don't think we'll be able to buy our 'forever house' at this point in our lives .... but we're ok with a 'starter house' that we can all our own.
We're pretty frugal people and don't spend a lot of money on 'wants' .... so I'd say we are doing ok financially.
Of course, I think most of us are conditioned to wish we made more money, had more things, etc. I think its part of our human nature.

Well, our house obviously took a huge chunk from our savings so we will have to work on building that up again. But I can't complain, we've been very fortunate.

Yup. We make pretty decent money, live pretty cheaply so we save alot, go on 3-4 vacations a year, own a home, have very little debt.. things are pretty good right now....

what i love is when i go to my second job at night and i am in my day clothes (work at a college in administration) and people go why are you working here if your dressed so fancy.

Ditto! Considering DH has been unemployed for 2 years & we paid for our wedding i want to cry...he does consulting but he needs a fulltime job so we can stop stressing! I hate it!
