I normally tend to look through DH text messages don't know why...I think it's more related to try to catch any baby mama drama which he often hinds from me. I never find any baby momma drama on it but still read all his messages, from his guy friends, or just about anything that is there...I do it a lot, well after him seeing me OD he locked his phone. Do you girls think that I am wrong for that, or that he is wrong for locking his phone bc I OD?
Do you think he should unlock his phone and just let me look at it, after all why would he care if he is not hiding anything
or
is he right for locking his phone after getting annoyed at how much I do it (he feels I 'don't trust' him) bc I do it too often.
Advice?

He shouldn't have a lock on his phone, but only because God forbid something happens to him and someone needs to get into his phone to call you they won't be able to. I made my FH unlock his phone for that reason.

Wow maybe i'm the minority here but i would NEVER pick up DHs phone to read his messages. He doesn't even touch mine so I know he wouldnt look through mine.
I'm not hiding ANYTHING but I still don't like when anyone touches my things. If you want to know something just ask and I'll tell

Re: Looking thru DH's text messages
just to make it clear in case I did not post clearly before, I am not worried about him and his ex, I was referring to baby momma drama, bc she leaves him nasty messages and he doesn't tell me so I won't get upset, not cause I am worried he is doing something shady. I do want to catch her being nasty or talking crap bc if I do catch it I can easily respond if I need to, other than that DH will tell me way after and I won't be able to do anything when the moment has passed. When I meant something to hide it is not 'cheating' 'being shady' but just hiding anything in general, in my case it would be 'drama'
other than that I just am nosy and bored at the moment...lol

I sort of did this with my sister. I posted before about her and how she was into drugs and just going into a bad place. I saw that she started to talk on AIM on our home computer. I know how to use the computer and everything and she doesn't at all. I wound up looking at all of he IM's. Mostly as a way to find out if she was lying about things to me and my mother, and to sort of make sure she wasn't getting into any sort of big time trouble. Alot of people will say that it's wrong, but I just felt like that was the only way to get the actual truth. After a while I became obsessed with it.
Then sh!t went down with my sister in law and my brother, and my sister kept in touch with them, so I started to read all the crap she would say about me and my mother and just see if she was lying about the things she was telling my mom or not.
It's addicting :( so I can sort of understand that lol
I liked being nosey ! :)

Re: Looking thru DH's text messages
That depends. According to your post you said something regarding finding 'baby mama drama' has he done something to make you feel you shouldnt trust him? I mean, I dont think he should of locked his phone because that seems to me like he is hiding something HOWEVER you shouldnt be checking up on his constantly either, unless you do suspect something.. I check DHS texts once in a while...just curious...I dont do it often tho

Re: Looking thru DH's text messages
I personally think he has good reason to lock it because it probably bothers him that you check into his messages. As someone who has absolutely nothing to hide from my DH, it would still bother me if he constantly checked my phone because trust is so important in a marriage, and it would make me feel like he didn't trust me. It's one thing if you're just bored and ask him if you can play with his phone, but I can see how he would feel like you have trust issues with him if you always read his text messages. If he was trying to hide something then he probably wouldn't lock his phone anyway because that would make it too obvious that he was trying to hide something. I would think that if someone really had something to hide in their text messages, that they would just make sure to delete them rather than create suspicion by locking their phone.
Maybe you could try to talk to him about how since your his wife, you want to be included and updated on what goes on between him and his child's mother just because you want to be there to support him.

I do not check DH's phone.. It's not mine.. so unless he gave me real reasons to expect the worst I would never.
I feel the same way. I don't have time or the desire to look through his phone....I would be p*ssed if he looked through mine

Re: Looking thru DH's text messages
I do not think he shoudl ever lock his phone esp. if he has nothing tohide. I dont look through DH phone and I dont answer it or reach for it when it rings but he willnot be locking it any time soon.
the only reason a phone should be locked if is you are doing something wrong !

This is a joke post right? I think it's a complete lack of respect to go through his phone. He made it perfectly clear that he doesn't want you going through it, if you had respect for him you wouldn't know it's locked.

like other ladies said on this thread... what works for some couples obviously doesnt work for every couple.... someone else might not think its a 'complete lack of respect' to go through someone elses phone

This is really a rude response IMO. Extremely judgmental. The lady posted a question, if you don't agree it is one thing but please try not to be so forceful.

It just bothers me bc she does not have a right to say YOU have no respect for DH. She does not know them or her relationship. It is really harsh and uncalled for IMO. Im sure she didnt mean to sound so rude.

This is exactly what I meant by people being so judgmental and 'holier than thou'. You are not in their relationship to know what works in their marriage. Saying she has no respect for her DH is uncalled for and just rude. I am pretty sure no one tells you how to run your marriage the same way you shouldn't tell others how to run theirs.
And I will repeat what I said a thousand times already, every relationship is different and couples should do whatever works for them.
