Now, I know technically people have up to a year to send a gift. But I was kind of suprised when we got stiffed by 3 different guests that attended the wedding. I thought you had up to a year to send a gift if you weren't attending the actual affair.
Did anyone else not receive a gift from a guest the day of the wedding?

Re: No Gift?
just 2 -- lucky! dozens of our guest did not bring anything (not even a congratulatory card), include 2 groomsmen!

Re: No Gift?
We had 6......
3 cards we received with checks in them a few weeks later
1 of DHs bosses who is loaded but going through a divorce so......
1 of DHs groomsmen but we are okay with it. He was travelling all over the world for the army and spent lots of $ on a plane ticket to NY, plus his tux, etc. He did get us a nice little gold trinket from China though.
1 of my close friends who is also loaded. She used to pay for all of us when we went out in college for no reason! She even called me a few weeks before the wedding to ask if she could bring a date and I said yes. This one is the most puzzling to us.

Re: No Gift?
Does the one no show count?
We also invited our officiant and she brought her husband, but they did not give us a gift or a card. So I chalked it up as officiating was her gift to us because she and the rabbi did not charge us.
We also invited someone at the last second - the night before the wedding - because someone had cancelled after we made the deposit, but we told him not to bring a gift and just come. So he came but no gift. Which I am ok with becuase he basically saved us the cost of his plate.

Re: No Gift?
Please, we had at least 7 couples who came ate danced and drank and gave zilch. Two did send us gifts from the registry to our home after, but the other five....and these are people that we still run into... whatever. Just make peace with the fact that there are people in this world who just wanted to go to a wedding, and have a good time.
My favorites are the ones that see you and say, 'OMG, I still have that gift to give you...' give me a freakin' break!!

Re: No Gift?
We had a few. One we received about 9 months later. The other two, I'm not holding out much hope for. One was from my God Child/Flower girl's parents. Her dad is a photographer and I know he was making something special for us with his photos, but since he did my friends wedding 7 years ago and she still hasn't gotten any copies yet, I'm not holding my breath. That's the only one I'm disappointed about.

I can count on 2 hands! I think that if you are not able to give a gift, fine, but you can scrape up $2 to get a card. I don't sound hostle do I?

Re: No Gift?
We were surprised that we didn't get gifts from several people, including one in the bp. So far he is the only one of those who didn't give us a gift to finally get it to us last week (3 months later).

Re: No Gift?
We had a few as well. I am not really too bothered by it, not as much as my husband is. I know one gave us a card explaining money problems and that it would come when they were able too, one was a bridesmaid and her daughter a flower girl and spent a lot on dresses, hair etc... one was a very close friend and always a generous person so I am confused with that one, the last a groomsman who has said he forgot it and still needs to give it. I'm not really upset about it, I only worry that if it got lost and they don't know that you never got it, I would feel really bad if I didn't thank them for it. If they couldn't give a gift fine, I am happy they could be there to share our day, but a card would be nice, I like cards. Oh well.

Re: No Gift?
My very good friend and her fiance came from florida and we didnt get a card or anything from them. I still dont know if we just lost it/misplaced it or there wasnt one to begin with. I avoided bringing it up forever, but just yesterday in an email, I casually said something like , 'oh btw....' . No response yet Meanwhile they are getting married in January, and we'd like to know what to give them, considering we have to buy the airfare and book a hotel. What's the rule for out-of-staters??

Re: No Gift?
One of my BM's did not give a gift. Her and her son were in my party. To top it off, she is my cousin, who got married before me and I gave her a gift. She told my other cousins that since she was in the party she didn't have to give a gift.....hello! I was in hers too!

Re: No Gift?
I guess really this is a personal thing. For me, their presence at my wedding would be gift enough.
Yes, a lot of money has been spent on the party, but what if no one came...wouldn't be much of a party then. So as long as you attend, I'm fine. The gift is just icing on the cake.

There were a few people who didn't give us anything. They even asked where we were registered, but still no gift.

I'm not so sure what the rule is?? LOL A friend of mine came in from California, and also asked me if his friend who lives in NYC can come as his guest. I said of course, I really didnt mind, the more the merrier, but No card.....LOL
He had mentioned it to my other friend that he forget to give it to me and will mail it..........but nothing yet....that was way over a month ago....oh well, whatcha gonna do?
But a card w/ a greeting would be nice

Re: No Gift?
I am so ashamed to say that ONE of DH's FOUR siblings gave us a gift. I am furious but he's so hurt by it that he won't let me talk about it.

We had a friend come in from California who did not give a gift (or card). At first I was kind of surprised but I've made peace with the fact that he might've just considered his presence enough considering his travel expenses. That being said, I think a card would've been nice.
