Role as a WIFE?

Original post by RedHead

Now that we are married....how exactly do you see your role as a wife?

I know this is a hard question...I personally haven't changed at all...
We lived together for 2 years before getting married so i guess i don't know what a 'wife' should be?

I just think that i am not exactly the traditional wife...

But then again i guess i don't want to be.....
AND i don't think i have to be...

He cooks, i clean, we both do the bills...he plays his PS, i am on LIW...

What is the harm in this?

Same here!!!

Re: Role as a WIFE?

This is a great Post, it's really interesting to read a little piece of all of the newlyweds lives.
Well, my 'Wife Role' and 'Husband Role' is somewhat like this:

ME-I'm the wife that tries to cook as much as I can-based on my schedule, normally it's usually a given that I will handle the nights dinner, but my husband cooks when I tell him to-when I'm coming home late he cooks. I also work and take a class two nights a week so he cooks for himself. Some nights I cook three meals at once-dinner for that evening and two meals for hubby when he works his long day (lunch and dinner). I also like to pack lunch rather than buying.
Cleaning - I am very diligent about that and usually do thorough cleaning each week because I like it done my way. My hubby cleans, but mainly picking up, putting away, dusting, bathroom, washing dishes etc. I do a lot of sweeping, washing floors, really scrubbing the bathroom tub etc..

Bills we both pay equally, social events we have our own time and together couple time

*Be a little gay and a little more interesting for him. His boring day may need a lift and one of your duties is to provide it.

I know that they are using the word 'gay' to mean happy, but I was just thinking how many men would appreciate this one today.

Continued:

I'm usually the holiday present shopper, card sender. We both do grocery shopping, but of course my shopping is much more thorough, hubby can handle the basics, but have him searching for some elaborate ingredient, I can forget it. He loves doing the laundry. As far as careers go, right now I'm making more of a salary than him-he just finished school and is working PT and working out his career goals and looking for better FT positions. I'm usually the one that stress more on finances, but I don't really nag him about money issues because we are maintaining at the moment, but I worry about our debt more.

Re: Role as a WIFE?

suven: I am with you the happy go between with the outlaws. I can't take it. They drive me nuts and now with the baby on the way I would like our child to have 2 sets of grandparents instead of just my parents. My Dh has written his parents off so many times and I have to but for the child I feel it is major for us to some how get along. I have been through a lot with his family over the last few years and nothing has gotten any better. I told my friends that being a wife is sometimes harder then I thought. I feel like a ref. I love my husband and him and I never argue, his parents are a whole nother ball game.

I am also the one in charge of making sure the bills get sent out on time. My Dh would misplace it or forget.

Other then these things we share all of the other jobs. He enjoys cooking so I can't complain.

Re: Role as a WIFE?

We have crazy schedules so typical roles don't apply well to us. We also lived together for 2 years befre we got married so we were pretty set in our ways by the time we got married.

I have to say I'm pretty lucky my husband does laundry, cooks, amd cleans. We pretty much do for ourselves. I am a full time student during the day and he works nights (4PM to midnight). During finals he did more housework than I did, now he's working a lot so I do more.

We both feed ourselves, there is no sit down dinner in our house!

ETS: Before we lived together my FH lived on his own for 5 years. He needed to learn how to take care of himself and got very good at it - I think this helps...
