Your next vacation

Anyone planning any big or small vacations this year? Figured with the new year we can talk about things to look forward to.

DH and i were discussing this yesterday. Now the problem i had is i wanted to take dh to vegas for his bday but he will be in arizona that week for work, and not sure when i can do it after and him able to take off of work since he cant take off as easily.

But he said he wanted to go to europe so was thinking of that for the summer. I want Italy but dh doesnt want to go there this year, he wants to go another time So now thinking where else can we go. I would like Greece but that would take alot of convincing lol. I even thought of maybe doing Spain again in a way to relive our HM lol.

Any plans anyone has?

We are taking our anniversary trip in April. I hate having to make decisions. First I wanted to go to the Riviera Maya but I saw tons of iguana's so that's a no go. I was thinking Aruba- but there are iguana's there too Right now I am researching the Bahamas, Hawaii and Paris (or any place in Europe) If worse comes to worse and I cant make a decision we will go to Punta Cana. I love it there and we always have a great time.

Feel free to make suggestions.

DH and I are planning on taking a vacation for our 1st anniversary. Not sure where though. We should start planning it soon.

we are taking 2 mini weekend trips and 2 long trips

i'm taking DH to cooperstown for his bday and we might take a trip to boston for a weekend


than in july we are going to the poconos for week with my bro his kids and my MOH and her family

for our 1 year we might go to mexico

We are planning a 2 week trip to Italy with DH family around Easter to visit his family. We are planning on spending about 1 week with them and the next week on a tour. We are still trying to decide if we should go through a tour guide or just rent a car and go off on our own.

see thats what DH wants to do. He wants to go with his dad, and visit the place his dad grew up in and experience that with him. But his parents went to Italy last year and his dad said hes not gonna go soon. I reminded DH of this and said his dad might not go for a few years ya know. SO maybe i can convince him lol.

Personally I like doing things on our own, i dont like a tour guide thing, but thats me. I hate having to be on someone elses schedule. I like exploring things on our own and on our own time and in the order we like. Also with the tour guides, you might do a little too much running around. When we were in spain we picked one big thing a day or place a day to visit. We never had to rush to go see it, and took our time and stopped along the way wherever we wanted. And i'll say that we stopped along the way alot. We would see a store we wanted to check out, or a place we wanted to eat lunch at and was able to just do it. Thats me though so depends on what you would like best

we're going to Riviera Maya in March for 6 days. can't wait.

I'm going to Hungary in May with school for a week. Should be interesting.

i think we are also going skiing in Feb, but to VT or somewhere close.

If we have vacation left we might go to St. Martin in August to my sister's timeshare.

i'm a vacation junkie.

thats me too, i overthink it and go through SOOO many options lol. I was looking for suggestions too

dh's friends did talk about everyone going to Aruba together, but with alot of them in the mortgage business, not sure if its going to happen this year.

I went to the bahamas, it is nice and did have fun.

Paris would be great it did cross my mind, but i also remember how expensive monaco was, i mean even for a real small cup of coffee it was $7 euros, and thats when the euro was stronger. If it gets weaker maybe lol. Our dinners always ended up costing ALOT and not like we even got alot. But average was $40-50 euro for just the dinner entree, and when we looked around for places to eat lunch thats what the norm was even for lunch. Luckily i said the first day to go eat lunch by the water, there were tons of outdoor little places, and it was affordable so we ate lunch there everyday to make up for the expensive dinners. I wanna go somewhere we can stay about 10 days to 2 weeks, but maybe do paris just for a week or 5 days. London would be great too but the dollar is so weak in comparison to the pound

hmmmm alot of you are going for your 1 year, that would be great. But im just starting a new job this monday and May might be too soon to take a vacation. I always think you have to wait at least 6 months, ugh maybe we'll even have to wait until after the summer i guess i'll figure it out

We're going to Italy (Genoa) for my cousin's wedding which is March 1st.

For our one year we wanted to go to London and Paris, but I have to go to Vegas for work around that time of year and DH wanted to come. I don't know what we're going to do. Its going to be a lot out of the office for me, let alone, our puppy will be with someone else for all that time.

We have a romantic weekend to Chicago planned for late February. (we live in Milwaukee so it's a short weekend trip)
Probably not going to be doing any big summer trip since the baby is due in June. We were talking about getting away in October, maybe on another cruise since we love cruising, plus my parents live in south Florida so they can visit with the baby while we take a little cruise vacay. But my BFF's wedding is in NJ in October so I don't know that we can afford to do both. Who knoooooooows. We always seem to plan our vacations last minute anyway.

Good Luck with your new job! You could always do a weekend trip or an extended weekend trip for your anniversary then do a bigger vacation once you get the time.

Good Luck with your new job! You could always do a weekend trip or an extended weekend trip for your anniversary then do a bigger vacation once you get the time.

Yeah youre right, it doesnt have to be a big trip. Maybe i can save the vegas trip for our 1 year, dh would be the happiest person if we did vegas. But even if we dont have enough time for that, maybe do a spa place for a weekend OR wait until memorial day weekend to get an extra day off and go somewhere for 3 days. Good idea

would you be interested in spain? compared to the rest of europe it was inexpensive, its cheaper than NYC I thought. I had the best time and want to go back someday. Otherwise I like the paris idea. If you want to do an island how about Bermuda? It is GORGEOUS.

We're going to the Atlantis in May. We usually go every year but last year had to skip it b/c we were saving our vaca days.
Also probably going to take a weekend trip to Mohegan Sun sometime this month. And every August we go to Saratoga for a long weekend and stay at the Sagamore on Lake George.
Thats all we have planned for now.

We're going away August 1-8, I guess technically for our 1-year, but we're doing it early. Our anniversary is always a busy time with his family so if we go away for it every year, we're going to miss a LOT!

We're going to Couples Sans Souci in Jamaica!! Since DH works for Air Jamaica, we're essentially flying for free, so we figured we could splurge a little on the resort. I have always wanted to do a couples-only, all- inclusive resort, so I am super excited!!!

Yeah Spain is a great option. But you are right I didnt think about the dollar and how weak it is in comparison to the Euro. Bermuda is nice but we have both been there.
