For all of you getting married in 2006, are you getting the same responses that I do from people when you tell them your date? If one more person asks me why I am 'waiting so long' 'what's his problem' 'that's too long of an engagement' 'too much time to change your mind' i am going to scream!!!! I need to know that other 06ers are going through the same thing!

Lmao I would have looooved to see the look on her face. To all the other brides facing this dilemma as well...don't let em get to you...just think if you planned your wedding quicker they would have so 'What's the rush'. LoL
yep they always say things like that and even after I explain that my FH is a Marine overseas and that we have to pay for it all ourselves I still get 'Oh' and funny looks people

Abosolutley! We just bought a house (its being bulit as we speak) so we have to do do both at the same time. My FH and I decided we didnt want to wait longer than March 2006 so we set a date for 3/31/06 and booked the Huntington Townhouse. I get the same reaction. I just ask them are they going to help finanice the whole thing? That usually shuts them up.

I'm a 2005 bride and on our wedding we will be engaged for 5 years. First I had the why don't you have a date yet? Money! Then well you do have plenty of time! Sure... Now its why that date?!?!? Hello people! The problem is no one can mind there own business and its their way of trying to find out something personal.

Yes, act since i am a very well organized person i do everything well ahead of time & everyone butts in & tells me 'ohh u have plenty of time why do all that now' BLAH BLAH BLAHHHHH! I just respond it's my wedding & i shall do what 'I' want! It's my 1st & hopefully last marriage i want it done right. But i just learn to ignore them. @ First I got so much crap esp that i bought my dress but it's what u want & how u feel!

a girl i work with got engaged and was married 8 months after that they did not have enough money for the wedding so they took out a loan..
5 years of being married and they are still paying off their wedding. im sorry i will not do that . besides the fact that they consolidated(sp lol) all their bills, that they can not even get a credit card because of that . and they want to buy a house but cant lol
so who caresssss if i want 2 1/2 my butt will not be in debt but your's still is

i don't think the comments will stop this year. now people will just say, 'well if you decided to get married in 2005, you would be getting married this year, instead of next.' oy it drives me nuts. and its always from the people who aren't married. why is that?

Now we can all say 'We're getting married next Year!!' My FH and I said that as soon as the ball dropped :) We only got engaged a month ago, but it feels good, to say next year. People are idiots...one girl at work said to me, 'why are you waiting so long' and i just said 'Cause thats what we want to do'. Whatever!

We got engaged in June 2003, and are planning a Dec. 2005 wedding - I still hear 'oh well you have so much time...' I feel your pain!

I'm not a 06 i'm a 05. I would never ask all of that question it is your choice in what you want to do. It is a good thing you wait that long so you can save the money if no one is helping.

i get it all the time. all excited someone will say 'oh wow when r u getting married'? when i say when. 'why so long from now'. Like i have to explain to anyone my reasoning. however, i tell them 'we need to save money. we are paying for it ourselves.' when i tell people that, they shut up instantly.
I've always wanted to be a may bride. I got engaged this past september and there was no way we were gonna afford may of 05. its my wedding and I would never settle just to make other people happy. its already been almost 4 months. and let me tell ya, it went fast. can only imagine how fast the rest of the way will go.
