A Heads Up!

Original post by LIWeddings

Well on December 11, 2005 this website will be 10 years old! WOW, where does the time go? So, I was thinking, what can we do to celebrate? First, after doing some quick math I see that it's possible to reach 3 million posts around the date of our anniversary. Thus we must have a 3 millionth post contest. Second, we have to have one heck of a GTG. Third, well, I need some ideas. So, without being ridiculous what can all of you suggest as some type of anniversary celebration where you are on the receiving end?

i like the booze Cruise idea, Oh captain, my captain but since its going to be december, i think everyone will be freezing their na-na's off

the wheels are turning, but i dont have any great suggestions right now. BUT i definitely think it should be more of an Anniversary party.. or something themed along those lines... than Completely wedding related (also, since i'm assuming that theres going to be another WOTY shortly after, you dont want to copy your own wedding ideas from yourself... what will the guests think?! )

ill get back to you when i'm more functional.... though, who knows how long that may take

how about a prize for each year, and the last prize can be a honeymoon or free vendor

Oh this would be good. A free vendor. We could call it take a vendor home for the weekend. What vendor would you like to take home?

I know I'm probably crossing the line, but I would take Vinny (high voltage sounds)

lol That's okay.. I'd take Laurie from LaBlossom she is sooo awesome!

I think the upgrade idea is a great one!

Do guys have na-na's? don't know exactly what they are. But I am learning and getting a good education in this area from the off-topic board!

Exactly! It's an anniversary, so it has to be themed that way!

Wow! How vain are we. Throwing our own anniversary party!

i was hoping that would be my key to winning, But now that you're told the whole LIW world, i guess i'm not the only one that knows (do i still get points for having Extraordinary taste though?)

Everyone has na-na's. girls (well, most girls anyway) tend to have bigger ones though. Then again, i think its more fitting to say that the girl would freeze their Na-na's off, while the guys in attendance, would be freezing the Cajones off

yes, you can just call me Captain Obvious here I just meant that maybe not Everything needs to wedding vendor/ favor related (then again, i'm not one to kick a gift horse in the mouth, so i'll take whatever your giving

Cruise around Manhattan with Lady Liberty Cruises. I've been on one and thought it was great. It's a full buffet meal with unlimited drinks and dessert. DJ or Band playing and the Statue..it could be USA Freedom themed.

Still in favor of vacation as grand prize.

Ron, you don't want to accompany me?

HEY! Be nice...I'm from Brooklyn - remember????

Okay, this time I actually have an idea...I'm sure some folks won't take too kindly...but here goes:

The prizes/event should be HUGE...along the lines of one engaged couple winning upgrades to their wedding (as JessicaM. suggested) and one newly married couple winning a vow renewal or 1 yr. anniversary trip...HOWEVER, I think those who want to win (don't we all?) should have to work hard for it...not writing some sappy love story or anything, but along the lines of 'I scratch your back, you scratch mine' type of thing.

ie: The couple that brings in the most new vendors to LIWeddings
-or-
The couple that goes to the most extreme to prove how much LIWeddings means to them

Am I clear here? Like I've said b4, I'm not that creative, but I think it should be a little more challenging to get a huge reward...

Re: A Heads Up!

Alright, kiddies, enough of the haberdashery (is that the correct spelling??)

Another thing to consider is that early December is going to be hard to pull off booking somewhere unless we do it soon, because that's the time a lot of companies book their holiday parties.

Maybe we should create a network of LIW vendors that are willing to participate and there should be prizes of $100 gift certificates towards the vendor of your choice since not everyone will have every type of vendor booked right away? This could also be used for the newlyweds depending on the vendor!

This could include favors, invitations, limos, attendant gifts, bridal accessories, hotel stay, etc.
