Re: A little personal
It won't be as bad as you are thinking. Just try to remember that every woman has to do this and it's necessary for you to remain healthy. Good luck, hon, it'll be ok!

Re: A little personal
I really feel for you.... I am petrified of doctors especially gynos!!! Really try and relax(I know hard to do). Believe it or not, the worst part right now is the anticipation!!! Just remember the actual exam is so quick!!! And really not that bad!! Believe me, I am an emotional wreck at doctors!!! You will feel so much better when it is over with!!!!

Re: A little personal
it's not so bad. It's easier if you relax during it too, deep breathing maybe can help. It's gets more routine, but no one enjoys going.
Little tip: Wear clean socks, with no holes
I also read that you should not deustch (sp??) because it can produce a false negative for the pap test, and can be harmful to your health if not caught early!

I agree, the embarrassment is the worst part....other than that it should be over quick.

It is not as bad as I thought it would be the first time I went. You are out in a few minutes. Good luck! You will be OK.

Re: A little personal
My old gyno was a middle aged gay man who made me laugh the entire time he was 'in there'.!! I miss him

Relax breathe in breathe out. There is no pain just those ugly stirups
Youll be fine, when I go and he does the exam, I focus on something in the wall and tune his ass out

it doesn't hurt at all...it may just feel uncomfortable...but there is no pain...and the more you relax...the less uncomfortable it is...
good luck!!!

Re: A little personal
First time ever???
It is IMPERATIVE that every woman goes EVERY year if not more...
I have a predisposition to a certain condition that requires me to go every 3 to 4 mos. so it's old hat for me....but still critical that you take this seriously! It's no big deal!! I have been going so long, I don't even remember being embarrassed!
Go and be diligent about going back when you are supposed to...I know I sound like this is life and death here...but it is. My DH's friend is watching his wife lose her battle with breast cancer at the age of 29. This could have been detected long before, if she hadn't let so long go between her visits....

I hate going too...hate it with a passion! But you have to go!! The exam only takes 2 minutes at most. For me, its not exactly painless but it not excruciating or anything.

I have never been to one either. I promise that as my New Year resolution I am going to go. (ok Jenn ). Does anyone have or know of a female Dr in Brooklyn?
