I don't want to fight with regular pantyhose the day of my wedding and I've tried several thigh-high brands that are allegedly special for plus size brides. It's a crock, as soon as I get them on, they start to roll down my thighs. Then they'll stayup just above my knee, but its like wearing rubberbands on my thighs.

Are you going to wear anything underneath like a shaper or something? I can't imagine packing myself into something that looks like my grandmother would wear ... but at the same time i have the tummy 'issue'. I want to look as sexy when the dress comes off as when it's on .. you know? Any ideas on those lines?

LOL yes I guess that's true!! My first time around I got them from Frederick's I belive, and they did stay up. But once I started putting on some weight ---- down they rolled again. So unfair!!!

I got a long line bra from Miriam's in East Meadow. They were great too. Because the long line bras only go up to 42, they are sewing in an extender to make it a 44 for me.
I got my 44D strapless bra from Miriam's this this past Saturday. I assumed it was a long line bc it goes down to my belly button.

I heard someone mention Just My Size makes good thigh highs
If I don't find a pair that are comfortable (and I'm almost given up hope), I'm planning to wear white knee highs. I know that sounds frumpy, but no one will see my thighs under my dress anyway.

If it goes past the bellybutton, then its considered more like a corset. I think anyway. And when it goes past the bellybutton, that's when you are in danger of sitting down and havng the thing flip up.
Luckily FH thinks anything that is satiny is sexy, so my satin girdle and bra will have to do to turn him on. That plus the garter should work.
After partying all day in uncomfortable shoes and sausage casing undergarments, I can't imagine how sexy I will feel anyway.

My first time around, after the reception we got to the hotel,. opened envelopes, and....passed out!! Oh and he spent about a half hour taking the pins out of my hair -- kinda spoils the moment....

When I came home from my hair trial, FI spent a good 20 minutes taking the pins out of my hair. And he said 'is this what I have to look forward to on our wedding night?' At least he thought my hair looked sexy when it call came down -- because it was pin curls, it was very full and wavy. Men are weird!

For the thigh hi's try Lanebryantcatalog.com and romans.com they carry up to 7x and i have some and they don't roll down..lol
I agree the dress situation has been very discouraging, which is why I have been putting it off.. I'm tired on a size 28 at David's bridal and hated it.. urgh!!! But on the plus side they do carry alot of samples so its a good place to get idea's of what will look good..

I just ordered my girdle from LaneBryatCatalog. I saw the thigh highs, but didn't order them because I figured they wouldn't be any better than anybody elses. Maybe I should try them.
David's is good for ideas too. I actually tried a dress on there that I loved, but they don't order special length, and because I'm only 5'1' they'd end up cutting off all the embrodiary when they hemmed it.
Since I started this thread, I think I'll introduce myself. I'm Amy. I'm 32 (33 in December), Tim (FH) and I bought a house in Lindenhurst last year. I'm an Account Exec with a PR firm in Mineola. FH and I met on match.com and will be together 3 years to our first date on our wedding day. Here's a picture of us from June at FSIL's wedding and also a picture of my dress:

I got thigh highs and I'm going to try them on with my dress tonight. I'll let you know how it goes. They were very comfortable when I tried them on.

Hey Hey --- OK I will introduce myself too---FI & I ALSO met on MATCH.COM! I am 37 (soon to be 38 - Aug. 4!) and he is 38. He's the youngest of 6 and so am I. He's Italian, I'm Irish...they say we'll make beautiful babies!! We are having a small wedding -- it's a do-over for both of us - about 65-70 guests. I am a food broker - I l ived in SPain for 13 years (the ex is still there, thank God) and worked in export for an olive co., and now I broker olives and other stuff from SPain, S. America, etc... I wokr from home as of 22 dyas ago - but who's counting! I have a big black Lab - Ebony - and I love him almost as much as FI (or....more?...well it's a differnt kind of love). My sis had a garden tea party for my last Satrday which was lovely - I did NOT want a shower - but I got lots of nice gifts anyway. Honeymoon: Barbados -- here I come!

I am Heather and my FH is Anthony. I will be 27 in October and he just turned 30 a few days ago. We have been together for 4 1/2 years. We met on yahoo - but just in a regular NYC chat room - neither of us were looking for love at the time but it happened!
We have been living together for almost 3 years in an apartment in Queens. We hope to move to Florida within 5 years or so and start a family.
Our maximum is 125 people at the wedding but the guest list is at 165 right now!
Oh and we are paying for the whole thing ourselves (except my mom is buying my dress)

Kara: I'm Italian and he's Irish too! We were on a cruise in April that stopped in Barbados. I didn't love the city much, but the beaches were gorgeous. Friends of ours took a tour that went to the caves and gardens and they loved it.
We're going to Aruba for 13 days.
I wanted my wedding to be about 150 guests. That was until I met the rest of the Irish family. Now my invite list is around 200 and hopefully only 175 will come.
Kara, where's the picture of your dress? Does Spiegel still have it in their catalog?
