I tried on dresses like this. I like the idea that the overcoat can come off when its time to party. Very pretty!

I found the CWC had lots to try on for us. I didn't love the sales people there, but their selection can't be beat, they have good prices and they leave the manufacturer tags in so you when you find a dress, you can find it elsewhere is you want.

I also found CWC great for BM dresses. I'm in 2 weddings next year, and they had a great selection with many sample dresses in larger sizes too.

HI GIRLS!!!

I went to try on my dress last night. IT looked great, a lil big but I have to make an appointment for a fitting. Aside from the fact that they gave my slip away it was a good night.

Here's the question: Where do I get a good bra? NOTHING holds me up like it should!

Christine -- that's great that your dress is a little big. Did you take a picture?

I loved Miriam's in East Meadow for my undergarments. Although I ordered my girdle directly from the LaneBryandCatalog.com. It was half the price that way.

I'll be honest, I tried on the thigh highs with the dress and I couldn't stand them after 6 mintues of wearing them. They were very uncomfortable. Other brides have had better experiences with them. I got the silk ones at Macy's for $6.50. The price was good but the comfort wasn't there. I think I'm going to go for knee highs because I hate pantyhose!!! GL trying to find some.

Another vote against the thigh highs. Now I'm in search of white knee highs. Lane Bryant the store did not have them last week when I was there.

Amy - Did you ask at Miriams? I know Georgette's has a lot of selection in the stockings/thigh-highs/panthose theme...

I did ask at Miriam's but they said what they have isn't much different than you can buy elsewhere. I ordered a pair from this sight -- which is a hoot in itself.

And then I found another pair on Home Shopping Network of all places. Both pulled up fine, they just don't STAY up.

Hi everyone!!

I'm Laurie - my FH is Ari. We've been together about 5 years (not counting the 2 breakups and get back-togethers! (I guess we were just meant to be.) We have been engaged since 1/10 and are getting married on 10/31.

I also hated trying on dresses. It's so hard to envison the dress when they try to pack you into a size 12 and you're really an 18. They don't seem to think you notice that the seams and sholders are all off kilter! That's in REAL clothes sizes of course. Gowns are cut to use the smallest amount of fabric possible!
So my size 16-18 turned out to be 20-22 in a wedding gown. I feel like a moose!

Anyhow - here is the dress I chose:

Wow there are quite a lot of us on here, wouldn;t you say? I guess there are still men who appreciate 'curves'. I tell myself, Marilyn was a size 14, Marilyn was a size 14............................................then someone reminds me a 14 50 years ago is like a 10 today. Oh well...

Thank you ladies. Just a little nervous not bc I think things will go wrong, but I hate being fussed over. My stomach has been doing a number on me. There's so much to do, but I'm not stressing about it. At least I haven't yet.

I too am a plus size bride - I am all for Georgettes and for dresses I would goto Lillettes in Bladwin - A large selection of dresses for us larger brides and you could actually try them on... YAY -

me too me too!! ( I don't know why that excites me!) Monday starts the new exercise/diet plan!

I am Vicky, babe is Joe, both 26, we have been together for 4 years but have know each other since HS! We havent dated since then though, we got together again after college.

My diet has been yo-yoing since February. I've been losing the same 12lbs!

I thought about going natural too but I'm afraid that my shoes will hurt more that way, and I don't want to have to end up sitting through the reception because of foot issues.

And I think it excites you because it means you're not alone! We're all in this together!
