Another plus size bride who married this past weekend. Here is a photo that we took before the ceremony:

I got so many compliments on my dress, and everyone said I looked great. I didn't think I would, but I felt pretty on my wedding day.

What a romantic dress...can't wait to see more pictures! Congrats!

I bought plain old stapy sandals with a small heal that I wore from the moment I got dressed until right after formal pictures. After that it was sneakers all the way!

I bought a sandal with a chunky heel...but I'm soooo tempted to wear sneakers...but my sneakers would peek from under the dress so i dunno...

My sneakers peaked when I was dancing...but at that point nobody cared and it was kind of funny.

You have to remember...you want to be comfortable so that you enjoy yourself to the fullest. There's nothing like sore feet to slow you down...

This is a picture my nephew took at the reception..he actually layed on the floor to get the shot of my sneakers...

Amy, that's too funny but you're right. You need to be comfortable especially your feet.

That is so funny and cute at the same time..and it would be a great excuse to get a comfy new pair of sneakers tee-hee..

Frosty>. where is that church?

Re: A thread just for PlusSize Brides

That's not a church. It is the Fire Island Lighthouse.

We had our ceremony outside, alongside the tower. That picture was taken in front of the keeper's quarters. We even climbed the tower and took pictures there too (not something I'd recommend because it is really hard to climb all those stairs in a wedding dress).

Re: A thread just for PlusSize Brides

hi ... to all plus sized brides..urgent help needed!!!

i need to know if this is true or not!!!

went to try on dresses for the first time at david's bridal today. tried on about 7 and fell in love with one.
( although i would like to go other places to make sure there is nothing better)

i was told that every week they get a list of dresses to be discontinued and there is no way to know one week to the other if a dress is going to be no longer available..

in other words...if you like something buy it now...

i do know sales people are sales people..but...

is this true ???

please let me know asap bc... this weekend there is a 6 month no finance and 15 percent off accesories if i buy it.

also would you say 550-650 is average for a dress..also veils and tiaras around 115??

ty!!

ps nice to meet everyone!!

I bought my dress at David's on sale for $450. The bridesmaids dresses were 15% off too. I wouldn't buy a tiara there, way too expensive! I bought mine on ebay for $23, it's very nice. Shop around and look for deals if you have time.

Are there plenty of plus sizes @ Davids's Bridal? I want to pay no more than 400-450.

I love this thread!

Girls, I need some help. I need to know if any of these stores have plus size samples. I've very embarassed about my size and I would hate to go to a store and not be able to fit in anything. Also, I'm too embarassed to call and ask.

Bridal Suite of Centereach
Helen's Private Collection
Burtons Bridal
Carmela Bridal
Adrienne's
Bridal Refections

Thanks for your help!

bridal suite of centerreach does not have plus size samples - i cant tell you enough about the horror story that was centerreach bridal suite they were absolutely horrible with me - worse experience of the whole wedding planning .

Hi there

Everyone has different experiences at Davids. Personally, they were not for me. I found their sales help pushy and rude and not very accomodating. Their prices are in line with other manufacturers (my Alfred Angelo Plus-Size Gown was $545 plus alterations). Also, I had a custom veil, cathedral veil and headpiece made at Burton's in Tri-County Mall and all three pieces were less than $250.

My advice...don't be pressured into buying anything...shop around and find a salon that you like that carries the dress you want.

Good luck!

I tried on a bunch of dresses at Commack Wedding Center and found the one but I am going to order it from another shop since I've heard horror stories about their service. You should definitely go there to try on dresses though because they had a big selection.

I agree with TWC. The dresses were easy to try on because they had 'larger' sizes. As opposed to the size 8-10s I found in other stores.
