Re: About the flower girls... And having a new board
I do have to say though...My brother has 2 kids (12 and 14).
I can't imagine that he or their mother would EVER have the audacity to actually call up a website owner and COMPLAIN about the content.
Like I said somewhere else before...this is a wedding website...what comes after the wedding is 's.e.x', so I really don't get why anyone is so shocked to see it. Now, I am not saying that we should all be posting instructions or toys...just that it shouldn't be so shocking to see 'the s word' on a wedding website...

it's probably a great idea, Ron, but the timing makes it suspicious
Now you really have me confused. Suspicious about what? I've been asking people for months to chill out on some topics. Some topics have increased, the phone calls to me have increase, and now we have come up with a solution. Sounds simple and basic, doesn't it? Now the adult material has a place that it can be discussed without me asking people to cool it or having to remove it. What in the world is suspicious about that?
Okay, now you're just trying to taunt me...you've been on the baords lately....don't get me started..
and I never heard fo ANY such warnings, if I had, I might have heeded them

I ahve seen *ahem* personal massagers....
And I think that lingerie, etc is not really for children....JMO...
no plastic battery operated toys that i know of are on the site. if they were they would be removed.
lingerie-i agree not for kids but nothing that you wouldn't see advertised in sundays paper

Am I the only one that sees this as a way for us to LESS watch what we say? Assuming its not a personal direct attack... we can say MORE here than we could previously.
Now where is that 'WHO GIVES...' smiley. Dammit!

I've accepted the OT board... It's all good. I just assumed, given the amount of WHINING going on lately that it had to do with that...

Re: About the flower girls... And having a new board
My 6 year old nephew is awesome at navigating on the internet. (he was our ringbearer). As for reasons behind a new board. I believe it's just as Ron stated.
A little background on stuff like this. In 1998 COPA laws were passed (but later challenged by the ACLU and a permanent injunction was ordered against enforcement) that protected against children having access to or explicit material on websites. How was this to be enacted? Commercial Web sites had to verify proof of age before giving users access to sexually explicit material considered obscene for minors.
Now unfortunately, this law is not enforced anymore as stated above.
New laws (which are better then nothing) are now enforced to a lesser extent on gathering information about children. These are the COPPA laws.
The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act and Rule apply to individually identifiable information about a child that is collected online, such as full name, home address, email address, telephone number or any other information that would allow someone to identify or contact the child. The Act and Rule also cover other types of information -- for example, hobbies, interests and information collected through cookies or other types of tracking mechanisms -- when they are tied to individually identifiable information.
Before collecting, using or disclosing personal information from a child, an operator must obtain verifiable parental consent from the child's parent. This means an operator must make reasonable efforts (taking into consideration available technology) to ensure that before personal information is collected from a child, a parent of the child receives notice of the operator's information practices and consents to those practices.
Every person that signs up for my web forum must acknowledge that they are over the age of 13. If not, they need their parents permission to sign up.
AND YES, LIWeddings has this policy as well
See Paragraph #7
I applaud LIW for taking the more 'extreme' stuff and making it seperate. I think one step further would be to put 'Some material may not be safe for minors' in the forum description.
...and I love reading this stuff! I believe it has found it's place.

My guess here is that it was kind of announced, all of a sudden, and posts were moved without warning. And, the fact that humans inherently feel threatened by change...

Re: About the flower girls... And having a new board
you can't tell em you don't get it?because there has been a lot of debating lately, (politically and otherwise) and many people ahve been whining about it and how they cant take these topics anymore (wven thought this sisn't the first time), so it seems like they won out in wanting these topics off NWR. And the funniest part of it all is that people are now saying that OT is the 'classless' board...UM...RIGHT....
But at least we can benefit.
Wait! Wait! Can we make a rule?
If not 'off topic' posts can be on NWR, then can all of the whiners who aren't interested in sex, politics and boduly functions have to stay off of OT? I'm just wondering

There is one thing that I hope everyone really uderstands here. There are well over three thousands posts a day on these boards. We do not employ monitors thus we really aren't aware of what you are. If there is whining it has not come my way. Do I occasionally receive a complaint about something? Sure, always have. Not what this is about. It's like people are trying to read into something when there is nothing to read into. It's simple. Here's a place to talk so outsiders can't see it. Period!

Re: About the flower girls... And having a new board
Inmust say, some of those posts made me Blush too...and I found it a little bit offensive too...not that I would post on them to show how many lovers I had, or how long my Husband and I can go, or what the weirdest thing happened while having sex, etc etc....And as far as parents callin about their kids viewing this stuff, its expected, there is not any warning to deter people from coming to Long ISland Weddings, no over 18 explicit content warnings, nothing..
So, why is everyone so bent about having a seperate board>?> Ron is really doing you a favor by seeing whats going on, and letting everyone continue, in a special 'adult' board...
And as far as boards being 'watched' they always have been...ROn owns this website and if he has a problem with something or sees something he does not like, he has the authority to take care of it....

I got an idea. How bout you post the official 'Classless complaint tally board' so we can see who gets the most complaints. I am sure I am high on that list.
