My cousin's MOH just emailed me asking if I could contribute $400-$500 to my cousin's bridal shower/batchlorette party.
When my cousin asked me to be one of her bm I made it clear that I could not contribute financially because I am going to be going to school full time, quit my job and also saving up for a wedding. She assured me that I will not have to bare any of the costs.
When my cousins MOH emailed me asking i could contribute this much, I emailed her back explaining my situation with school, quitting my job and wedding saving. I also said that since I cannot contribute financially I will not attend because I feel bad that I cannot give in any money.
She write me back saying 'So am I understanding your intentions that you won’t attend, won’t contribute financially, and won’t help out either?' I am so upset that I started crying at work, I'm already stressed out because I have no money even for my wedding and I want to call my cousin and back out of the BP because of her MOH.
Any advice? I'm super stressed
she emailed me back and said this... gee can she rub it in any more?
'Ok, well, that will definitely be something to let the rest of the girls know since we will have to cover your share of finances…'

she is totally out of line. being part of the wedding does not mean being financially constraint. that's a lot of money to ask for. your cousin is just being stupid.

Re: Am I being sensitive?
Crashing... Having been through this many, many times, in various capacities,
1. That is an INSANE amount of money for a shower.
2. The amount for the bachelorette is hard to figure to an exact $$ before the event actually happens (drinks, food, etc. can vary), so asking that much in advance is stupid.
3. After the conversation that you had with your cousin about money, she really should have made sure that the MOH and rest of the BMs were aware of this, so that they could plan their financial contributions accordingly. Making sure everyone started out on the same page was absolutely your cousin's responsibility.
4. The MOH is a biatch.

Re: Am I being sensitive?
Thanks ladies,
My cousin had a BM get together and we were talking about our jobs and things like that. I dont think her MOH was listening when i told her I was quitting my job at the begining of the month to go to grad school in a private college.
I spoke to my cousins BFF and she said that the MOH should incur most of the cost and I should not have to bare that burden. I did speak to my cousin's FI and he said it was an insane amount and he will speak to the MOH about it and find out what she is doing and he might just pay for the whole thing.
What I dont understand is her MOH asked for 400-500 per person but did not say what she was using it for. I think shes going to smuggle the money and run to mexico.

Oh not my cousin, its her MOH. she feels she needs to do something HUGE for her because they're soriority sisters and they're high rollers. but I'm not anywhere near a high roller i'm more of a metro card carrying kind of girl.
