Am I overeacting...

Am I overeacting...

My FI and his lil sister, I'll call her princess, have two diff fathers and princess' father is mega rich, well for her sweet sixteen party he bought her an amzaing, to die for, custom made versace dress, in lite pink...a beautiful dress,
well due to a death in her fathers family, princess had to cancel her sweet sixteen and was unable to wear her dress, so my FMIL wants her to wear it to my wedding!!!!!!!!! my mom freaked when she heard this b/c her princess' dress is so much better then all my BM's dress'...and prolly better then my $700 gown...My mom wants to call my FMIL and tell her that princess can't wear her dress to the wedding, its too close to a wedding dress, My FMIL thinks its pink so its totally okay...am I overreacting? or do I have a right to be mad..

also to make matter worse,MY FI college buddy is bringing as is date(as a friend) my FI college sweetheart, they broke up five years ago and he hasnt seen her in over three...my emotions are just on a roller coaster...

I feel like all the attention at my wedding is going to be on princess' dress and my FI college sweetheart.

I need a hug and a valium...

Wow is it the day to vent about the inlaws. I thought I was the only one....well the old girlfriend...I dont know what to say men are stupid...out of everyone this guys is 'friends' with he has to bring her...that rediculous!

as far as the dress. No-one is going to be paying a bit of attention to 'princess' . YOU are thebride and that is all there is to it. However if you feel that uncomfortable with it...Id say something to either you FI or your FMIL directly or for that matter right to 'princess'. Maybe if you explain to her how you feel she will wear another dress.

try not to worry! You are going to be the beautiful bride!!! Nobody is going to pay attention to princess and her dress!

oh my goodness, no you are totally not overreacting. Princess should wear the dress that you 'the bride' picks out, and your fiance should handle his mother, you should not get involved.
As for the former sweetheart, she should not be there, and to be honest she should not want to be there, and I am sure he does not want her there. Your fiance should talk to his friend.
Unfortunately, you have all the stress, but these are things your fiance should be stopping.

Is Princess a BM?

Trust me, NOONE will notice princess, her dress, or anyone else but you and your FH.. Really.

To me, it wouldn't be a big deal if princess wore that dress. Who cares if it cost more than yours? who cares if its pink? I wouldn't think it would take anything away from you or your day.

As for the ex-girlfriend - don't give it a second thought.. remember your DH is marrying YOU.. not anyone else. He chose you, and is going to spend the rest of his life with you. You can't avoid the fact that he had previous girlfriends and you may run into them at some point in your life. But all you have to remember is that he's yours now and always will be. He committed to you, not anyone else.

And above all, relax and have fun! Remember, you're the bride and everyone's eyes will be on you.

Regarding the princess dress. No one is going to look at 16 year old. All eyes will be on you!I wouldn't worry about that

I would tell FI to talk to his 'friend' and tell him not to bring his ex. That is crazy.
If the friend says anything, then invite him with out a guest.

Good luck!

First off, here are some hugs

Regarding your situation…I would honestly be more upset at the latter of the two. I wouldn’t really care for my fiancés ex from college to be there-MAYBE if this ex was seriously dating his friend it would be ok…but can’t he find anyone else to bring?? I would have a talk with your FH and see if he can talk to his buddy about making an alternate date.

About the dress thing…don’t sweat it! In my opinion, she will look out of place in a very fancy Versace dress meant for a sweet 16. ALL EYES will be on you, I promise!! Let her get her way and wear it-she’ll go unnoticed. Good luck with everything!!!!

as for the ex sweetheart i think FI needs to talk to his friend - he cant bring anyone else? I'd be unhappy too but be comfortable in the fact she is an ex for a reason and he chose you to marry and spend the rest of his life with!! She will likely be more uncomfortable and unhappy than you though!

as for princess - you are the bride and you will be gorgeous - and I don't think your mother talking to FMIL will change whether princess wears her dress, and princess will probably only get a similar overpriced dress if she does have to change. You will still be the center of attention - and in my experience people tend to think poorly of guests that show up trying to upstage the bride.

make 'princess' a junior brides maid- and order her a dress from David's Bridal...

sorry I can be very evil some times- honestly no one will be paying attention to her- don't worry

She can't dictate what other people should wear though - she's not in the BP, is she?

Don't fret - some peolpe come to weddings a bit more decked out than others - no one will be looking at you - you will be beautiful - after all - its your wedding day!!!

And think that this poor girl had to cancel her own sweet 16 - let her get a chance to wear her dress!!!

I think you are overreacting. You can't tell people what to wear to your wedding. You are the bride and no one is going to get confused about that. Who cares what she wears.
The ex-GF thing would bug me a little, but hey-he is marrying you-she'll be more jealous of you.

You are not overreacting. I would not be happy if DH's ex came to my wedding. As far as princess's dress I wouldn't say anything, unless it's like a ballgown. Unless she goes around telling everyone it is Versace, noone will know the difference. It's your day and everyone will be looking at you, trust me.

Re: Am I overeacting...

To avoid any pink dress problems, make princess a bridesmaid or a reader and tell her that she needs to coordinate with the BP and her dress will be what ever color your BP is. You are asking her 'now' to make it special between the two of you.

The other thing is I had a 16 and 17 yo at my wedding. Both model thin and the comment people made to me the bride was wow how beautiful those 2 girls were. I let it slide the day of the wedding, but yes people notice these things and some are really dumb enough to comment on it. So if you think it will bother you, nip it in the bud now.

As for the ex- have your DH tactfully tell his friend that he needs to find another date, Otherwise invite said friend without a date. Perhaps he will meet someone at your wedding.

Okay, first, a bunch of

As for the old girlfriend, FH is marrying YOU!! Men can be really clueless sometimes and you have more to be concerned about, i.e., how drop dead gorgeous YOU are going to look that day, than about any of FH old flames.

Do not let these people stress you out for one moment. Every eye in the place is going to be on you, all day long. Not even a Versace dress or an old flame is going to be able to outshine you.

so if she is a BM then she has to wear the same dress as all the other girls. too bad princess.
