hmmm... where should I start? Or shall I just go str8 to the point? Here goes:
There have been many pregnancy announcements lately. Though I'm genuinely happy about the news, and the huge change in each of their lives, I feel that posting their announcements on a board, where many women have been having a tough time TTC and/or keeping a pregnancy, is kinda mean - especially from pg ladies who hadn't frequented the TTC board.
I'm sure that at a preggo's height of excitement, the last thing that they realize is that it's insensitive to TTCers, but I thought that I'd bring it up to keep future announcements on the Parenting board.
What do you think?

Re: Announcing PG on TTC Board...
Lissette, I applaud your post
Very well said, and I couldn't agree more.
I think we all realize that posting pregnancy announcements on this board is done with the best intentions, and it goes without saying that we are happy for the mommies to be!
- however there is a reason why there is a TTC and a PARENTING forum.
So very many ladies are here and are really struggling with infertility - and often it is just heartbreaking to keep reading happy announcements on this particular board, when all we are wishing and hoping is that it were OURSELVES in that person's shoes
Again, I thank you for posting this Lissette! You said it better than I could ever say

I agree with the both of you. I think it is done with the best intentions but since there is a parenting board these announcements should go there.

I agree with your post
I think maybe they should create a pregnancy announcement board (like I've seen on other forums) for everyone to post. It is sucha a happy thing to announce...it's just hard for the girls struggling to get PG (and stay PG too) to see BFP after BFP and yet, still be TTC without luck.

Re: Announcing PG on TTC Board...
I am neither TTC nor pregnant, but I would think that after sharing the struggles of TTC, the newly pg's would want to announce it here. That's like announcing your engagement to you married friends so your single friends don't get hurt feelings.

I disagree guys.... If and when I get preggo... you guys would be the first people I would want to share it with. Not the people I don't know on Parenting.
It just makes me very sad to think that you would want me to share it with others....

Re: Announcing PG on TTC Board...
I am in the minority here.
I don't mind seeing the announcements on the TTC board. I feel like it uplifts the boards. (well, for me it does) It gives me hope.
And I rarely frequent the parenting board.

Ooooh no, Cheryl I think what she meant was that people who arent on the TTC board...who we don't know...its hard to see them appear and just announce that they are PG...when we dont know them and when we have been struggling to get PG.
I know that when I get my BFP and God willing it sticks, I will announce it HERE right away because I've been on this board for so long with you all and you all know my TTC ordeal.
I think she meant that the parenting board was more appropriate for people who havent been TTC and having issues to announce their pregnancies.

Re: Announcing PG on TTC Board...
I misunderstood her. And I understand what she means. I find myself searching the newly announced Pger because she does not sound familiar on the TTC board.
But, I don't think it changes how I feel about a seperate board b/c how would we do that.
eg. (you can only post if you've been posting on TTC board for the past 10 mos.)
I think it is best to keep it simple. JMO

Re: Announcing PG on TTC Board...
Cheryl and Juju .. I understant what you ladies mean, and I actually agree with you both. I certainly feel like I 'know' the TTC girls better than the ladies on parenting.. I would definitely want to share my happy news with you ladies first before announcing it anywhere else!
Those who have become active posters on TTC definitely would SHOULD feel as though they can share our BFPs and other success stories on this board first before moving over to parenting - that goes without saying.
But like Kathy just clarified, there is a slight difference we were trying to differentiate. I will speak for myself by saying I am referring to those posts from the ladies who announce their pregnancies here, but whom have not really been active posters on TTC on a whole. It is these posts that I wish had perhaps been best announced on the parenting board instead of TTC. I do realize that a lot of ladies lurker here, and they do not like to announce the fact they are TTC on a whole - which is totally understandable - but I still think their announcements make more sense on parenting than they do here in that case.
Trust me - I am thrilled for all the preggos on LIWs! In fact I have no problem going over to parenting, congratulating the new mommies, looking at belly pics, etc. It DOES give me hope and DOES make me so excited for those girls as well. But this is a different forum with some different issues, IMO
I have only been trying for a few months but its been a hard road nonetheless. And for those ladies who are trying and have faced miscarriages, struggles with infertility issues, etc - its just hard sometimes to read an abundance of preggo announcements
I'm not trying to put a damper on the happiness that surrounds any pregnancy announcement - we obviously are all striving to be able to make our announcements as well!
Eeesh, I hope this made sense

I have to say I agree w/xjulietx- I felt like I went through all the ups and downs right here on TTC this is the first place that I wanted to share my news, I didn't think it insensitve at all. I also didn't get upset when others would announce their wonderful news when I was struggling at the TTC. I felt like this is where I started and although I still post here to try to help or encourage - I ask any questions I have on Parenting. But when I was going through my TTC I felt like I got to know some of you, if I upset anybody by posting my news I apoliogize.

Yes I've found myself seearching for a newly announced PGer too. I know what you mean.
LIW is more weddingplanning...so we dont have too many PG related boards, but on other sites I have seen the main board with a list of other PG realted boards...like: 'TTC 6+ months' or 'TTC 1 year +' and others like 'HPT/OPK questions' 'charting questions' and 'TTC after a m/c'
Since we're limited here I guess people don't really know where to announce their BFP. But, I do still agree, its hard for us girls who have lost pregnanies or for those of us who cannot seem to get pregnant to read the announcements. It's just hard and there have been a lot of them lately which makes it harder.

Re: Announcing PG on TTC Board...
I've only seen a handfull of people do this so honestly it doesn't bother me one bit. There are well over 20,000 members to this site 'Currently 14929 users on the LIWeddings.com Chat' and that is right now at this current moment. If like 6 people out of 30,000 do it... that's such a small percent, than we're doing OK. They honestly didn't know where to go.
I do not think it requires another board. As JuJu said- Let's keep it simple.

Re: Announcing PG on TTC Board...
I agree and disagree. Here is my explanations. (and please - I am not trying to step on anyones toes - if you feel that I am please let me know).
For someone like me that has only been on the LIWeddings board for over a year. I really didn't start posting until about 6 months before my wedding. Same thing for the TTC board. I have been lurking on this board since I came back from my honeymoon (in Nov), I just only started posting on this board about a month ago. Only because I post a couple of times am I not welcome to announce my pregnancy? (not that I am, but when the time comes).
I can understand what you are saying about someone that never-ever posts on the TTC board and then there is an announcement, but what if they are a lurker like me? Should we just tell them not to post here, only post on the Parenting board? See, this is the other part and again, not to step on anyones toes - but so many of you have been through things (that I would never wish upon anyone in this world) - shouldn't these girls feel welcome on this board, if they feel they are experiencing any of the symptoms that some of you girls experienced?
Should there maybe be another board???? I am just trying to understand.

i think they should post it here and over on the Parenting board...
some people wait until after the first three months to tell people, so they are dying to tell anyone who will listen...(that they don't really know)

Re: Announcing PG on TTC Board...
I can understand, I was on the TTC board for 1 year seeing Ladies announce their good news and yes it hurt regardless if they never posted on TTC or were regular posters.
Unfortunately, I don't think its fair to say if you have never posted on TTC you can't announce your pregnancy on TTC...it should be on Parenting but we can't stop them from posting on TTC either.
Baby dust to all!!!!!

Re: Announcing PG on TTC Board...
The reason why I posted was not to stop preggos from announcing their pg, but to ask that they think before they do post. It makes perfect sense to post an announcement on TTC after spending so much time frequenting the board, because we've developed relationships with each other with charting Qs, possible pg symptoms similiarities, the infamous 2ww posts, etc... However, I think that if a preggo hasn't had a tough time TTC, they would understand not to go into the TTC just to get a couple extra 'Congrats' from ladies they probably didn't connect with in the 1st place... IMO, it receives a 'rubbing-it-in-our-face' type of reaction.
It's evident that announcements will always come, on either boards, but I feel that those 'posting-just-to-get-congrats' posts should be directed to Parenting, and the TTCers that finally do have a successful BFP can acceptably reveal their news on the TTC board. That was what I intended on getting across with this post.

Re: Announcing PG on TTC Board...
And that point came across but like on the Newlywed board, we always have the Brides-to-be posting and asking questions. As much as we post and ask them to not post their questions, they still do. Its a never ending battle unfortunately.
