Just wondering about this, I don't think I really like that tradition, anyone else opted out of that, I think it's a little uncomfortable for the girl who catches the bouquet and the guy who catches the garter to do that whole thing. You know what I mean?

I went to a wedding once where the girl who caught the bo-k was rather 'unattractive.' WELL when the garter came along, NONE OF THE GUYS WOULD CATCH IT! They all backed away. I felt soooo bad for this poor girl. Then--- to make things WORSE-- they tossed it AGAIN and once again the guys backed up.
My FH felt SOOO incredibly bad, that he went out onto the dancefloor and picked it up and put it on her. She was close to tears.
So no. I AM NOT subjecting my guests to this!

that's one of the most awful things I ever heard. I like to kid around and stuff.. but never at the expense of another's feelings... that was cruel. Awful.
We are not doing the garter toss. Not a lot of single people there. Maybe we'll do the BBo-k.. but not the other...I always felt that doing this wasn't cool for single people. Uncomfy.

I'm not doing a lot of the traditional stuff.
I'm not doing the Garter or the bouquet toss. We arent introducing the bridal party. We arent having a formal cake cutting - even though we will cut it - we arent going to be announcing it.
ETA: I want to have the most time available for dancing - all that stuff just cuts into the band playing.

my MOH is getting me the garter b/c she wants to. i will be wearing it b/c it'll be special to me. but i'm not tossing it. MOH knows this already. I may actually give it to her at the after party at the hotel. she's single and looking, so i thought it'd be cute to pass it off to her.

we didn't do the garter toss, my DH absolutely didn't want to do it (he's very shy) but I did do the bo-k toss (although I should've done the anniversary dance instead b/c there were really only 10 single women, half of which were under 18!)

I'm not doing the garter toss, and i'm not wearing one. I keep getting pressured to wear one because it's 'tradition.' Screw that it's my wedding day i want to be comfortable not itchy.

We DEFINATELY are. We're all about fun, and to me that's more of a fun time to clown around then do it for serious traditon stuff.

We didn't do most of the 'traditional' stuff at our wedding....A lot of that was b/c our wedding was in Italy and DH's family wouldn't have understood the traditions...lol. I didn't want to do them anyway though so I was glad!
No garter toss No bouquet toss No bridal party intro's No 'official' cake cutting, although we did cut it...
Our wedding had more Italian traditions than American....lol!

noooooo waaaaaaaaay. i don't think it's very tasteful to have the groom fishing around up the bride's dress in front of everyone. FH would never do that--especially not in front of my father & brother! LOL

We're not doing the traditional toss either, however, FH will take it off my leg but we're doing an anniversary dance. The longest married couple gets the bouquet and the garter and the husband will then put the garter on his wife's leg.

We are doing the same thing. I don't want to do the toss but my FI will not give up taking the garter off! We are not making the oldest couple put the garter on.

We're not doing the garter toss either. I will be wearing one but that's for FH to see afterwards. I'll keep it as a keepsake and I'm also having an something special embroidered inside my dress (my something blue) that he'll only see.
