Anyone planning on attending their cocktail hour?
MY FI wants to, but I know you are not really supposed to. He feels that we are paying a lot so why not!

Also STD magnets...How are you sending them??? Do they come with a card and envelopes or something to mail with them???

If not, how are you sending them?
It just seems odd to throw a mangnet in an envelope with nothing with it.

First - I am DEFINITELY attending my cocktail hour. I may even forgo formal portraits entirely to be certain that we don't miss it!

As to the magnets. I bought mine with backing cards and envelopes from agiftfulheart.com - I had no problems with them sticking and everyone got theirs without a challenge. Here is a pic of the magnet on the backing card:

Nowadays, it seems like it's pretty common for the bride & groom to attend their CH. Back when my sisters got married, it wasn't. But I love this idea! Say hello to everyone at the CH, then party at the reception!

And at CLM...we get to arrive by boat so I sure as heck won't miss it!

We missed about 15 min. of it due to traffic on the LIE, but we went for the rest of the time and walked around greeting our guests and getting pictures taken.

DEFINATLY going to CH... we'll try to greet guests so we can dance more during reception

STD magnets- Im not sure about but I heard if you just put them in an envelope and throw them in the mailbox they will stick to it!!! Definatly bring them to the post office if you do that!

i'm definitely planning on attending my CH. I want to be able to munch on some of the good food, although I know I'll be bombarded by people the minute I walk through the door.

We are definately going to be at our CH. We are doing pics between the wedding and CH.

With our STD's we sent the hotel info and a poem telling guests that we are providing transportation to and from the hotel.

We are having an hour and a half cocktail hour. So we are hoping to be able to spend some time together and eat and then go around greeting our guests. Hopefully, everything goes smoothly with pictures and we can make this happen.

we tried to attend. we had about a half hour or so left in the cocktail hour, but as soon as we walked in we were bombarded, so we went to the bridal suite.

We attended for the last 1/2 hour. It was great!
We didnt get to eat the food but we did collect envelopes and chat with guests so that we could just dance and not mingle during the reception. I would highly suggest it!

We don't want to miss ours or miss out on greeting everyone and thanking them for comming. We don't want to miss out on the food either. We want to get that out of the way so we can enjoy our reception. The ceremony is at the hall a half hour before the cocktail hour, so we are going to arrive there early to get all of the pictures out of the way.

Once our pictures are done we intend on popping in & mingling for a few minutes-- so we can get most of the thank you for coming out of the way & enjoy ourselves all night long-- We refuse to go table to table to make sure we talk to everyone! Its our night & we want to enjoy ourselves fully.

Absolutely!!!!!!! We wouldn't miss it, that way we can get all of the hello's and congrats out of the way and we can enjoy all of our wedding.

sent save the dates a few months ago. we didnt do magnets though, couldnt find any i really liked.

going to try to catch some of the cocktail hour( if only for some food!) but we arent seeing each other before the ceremony so we might miss some if taking pics.... every wedding ive been to the bride and groom were at the cocktail hour for atleast a few minutes...i dont think its tacky.
