Just curious... my parents are footing about 80% of the wedding costs, we're doing about 20% and my fiance's mom is doing the rehearsal dinner...
I know there are different versions of who should pay what depending on what 'tradition' you go by... how is everyone here doing it? I would like to ask his mom to help with limos or videographer or something to help lessen the blow for us. It's so awkward and stressful!

Re: Are your fiance's parents paying for anything?
we got lucky that my mom, my dad (they are divorced), and FILs offered to help out financially. We are still footing about half of the wedding ourselves, but we would not be able to have what we are having if it wasn't for all of them.

Re: Are your fiance's parents paying for anything?
My Il's gave us a very generous amount of $$ and that went to pay for the photo/video, the band and the RD. My parents paid for an e-party, the entire reception, invitations, officiants, my dress and accessories. They also gave us their mileage and use of their timeshares for two weeks. DH and I covered flowers, limos, wedding bands, favors and HM spending.

FH's parents are just paying for the rehearsal dinner. My parents are paying for the reception, limos, invitations, and my dress. We're paying for everything else (band, flowers, photographer, honeymoon, etc,)
FH's parents are divorced, and don't really get along. I'm just grateful they could put aside their differences to plan the RD...

Re: Are your fiance's parents paying for anything?
FH Father and Stepmother are paying for the rehearsal dinner and they gave us a generous check at our engagement party to be used for the wedding.
Other than that... it's up to my parents.

Re: Are your fiance's parents paying for anything?
I think brides should be grateful fo any contributions they get from either side.
My parents told me when I was 18- 'we have $ set aside for you- it can either pay for college or your wedding' I chose college so DH and I paid about 90% of our wedding
Inlaws paid for e-party, limo, gave us some $ BIL's paid for Rehearsal lunch
My parents paid for my gown, veil, and invites Various family members helped us put stuff together
I couldnt be happier with how everyone chipped in ...my wedding day I felt like a truly loved person

Re: Are your fiance's parents paying for anything?
we are going to pay for most of it, my parents can't afford to give too much and I think they will feel bad if Fil's give us a lot and they can't so I think we will do most by ourselves

Re: Are your fiance's parents paying for anything?
Ok, I can vent a bit here!
They are paying for the rehearsal dinner, and the tent. Which is nice of them. But, my parents are making so many sacrifices and my Dad recently got cut back to part time at his job, and my future inlaws KNOW THIS, and didn't even offer to help out after it happened.
Irks me, seriously.

You're right it is stressful. My parents are paying the big chunk due to the hall the month before the big day, buying the favors, throwing the shower and helping out with the photo/video. As of today FH's mom has not even given us an engagment card. I don't really want to bring it up again with FH because it will only cause tension but the one thing that really gets on my nerves is that she's constantly asking us if we're gonna be able to afford it without ever once mentioning that she would be able to help (even if it's a couple of hundred dollars) if we ever need it. It's just frustrating because my parents are helping out alot and are inviting wayy less people than she is at the wedding that she is not contributing one penny to. I understand that her financial situation is different than my parents' but atleast a card would be nice thanks for the vent...i feel better now
Sounds just like mine.. My parents gave us the brunt of the cash for it, we have to pay the rest. I didnt even get as much as a call or a card to say congrats. I mean I respect her and all, I am so disgusted by this thus far that I told my FH that I dont want anything even if she offers..

Re: Are your fiance's parents paying for anything?
My devil of a FMIL offered to pay for the rehearsal dinner and just like 2 weeks ago said she couldn't. The wedding is in 52 days!! Her and my FFIL are divorced and he didn't really have a clue that he was supposed to pay for anything, so my parents are footing the bill for everything, except what the Groom pays for. (Preachers, Limo, etc.)
