Just curious... my parents are footing about 80% of the wedding costs, we're doing about 20% and my fiance's mom is doing the rehearsal dinner...
I know there are different versions of who should pay what depending on what 'tradition' you go by... how is everyone here doing it? I would like to ask his mom to help with limos or videographer or something to help lessen the blow for us. It's so awkward and stressful!

FH's mom is on a fixed income and she can't contribute anything....and FH's dad & GF hate me and wouldn't contribute a dime if they even had it. (which they don't--they usually call up FH and say 'lemme get $20 till my check comes on the 1st to buy cigarettes')
i'm quite happy having FH & I foot 100% of the bill.

LOL... nice to know I'm not in this boat alone! What's tradition? Isn't it limos, rehearsal dinner, maybe honeymoon help or something, liquor (which is ridiculous since it's included in the per plate cost?) from the groom's side? It's such a sensitive subject. I asked my FH to ask her for a little help... he didn't seem happy about it, but we'll see what happens. Every little bit helps! Thanks!

My Fiance's parents are paying for about 25% of the wedding. Besides that, they paid for about 90% of our engagement party. It is very unfortunate that my parents cannot help; although I have to give my mother credit for buying my weddign gown and I hear she is making me a bridal shower...go mom!

nothing, they haven't even offered.
my parents paid for the eparty and are also paying for the rehearsal dinner (in addition to my dress and the bm dresses, hair/makeup, etc).

Our parents didn't pay for 'items' but rather contributed whatever they could in dollars.

My grandma is giving us about 90% of it - my sister and I are her only two grandchildren (she paid for all of my sisters but thats a different story) FH's parents didn't offer and probably wont, even though they have a large guest list....they better pay for the rehearsal dinner!! (the definitely can afford it!!)

I'm very lucky. His parents are paying for the band, photographer and video. Also they are hosting the e-party.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one!! They aren't contributing at all (but of course they demand that we invite every single distant acquantaince they can think of!). Their reasoning is that the brides family traditionally pays for the wedding. My dear sweet mom (who is a single mom and is also paying my little bros college tuition w/o receiving any kind of help from my dad) is paying for my gown and the hall, and the rest is on me and my fh.

Not as of yet, but they told us that they would pay for something....My parents are paying about half(reception hall) and we are paying the rest.
