he called my mom that day he was going to propose...my dad died...so he had to ask my mama.

FH did ask my father and brothers permission and even went so far as to make sure that my ex husband was ok with him being such a big part of the kids life..HOWEVER the greatest thing he did was take my kids out and ask their permission to marry mommy!!!! that meant more then asking any one else or my dad!!!

Yes. My dad knew for a week. He told my mom right before he left to do it b/c he thought she'd slip.

My FH asked both of my parents. He is very close with both of them but is very traditional. He asked my dad over McDonald's breakfast (if you knew my FI you would know that is was a classic setting for him hahaha) and then he went home and asked my mom -- her reply 'You can have her...just get her out of the house already haha!'

He spoke to both my parents! He went to their house when I was at the gym and told me he was working late hehe.

FH didn't ask - but we've been together for almost 9 yrs so it was kind of assumed. Everyone was excited though when it became official.

Well, he asked, but that was after my dad already gave him permission!!!!!
He was thinking of a way to ask my father and he didnt know how (my dad is straight off the boat italian! so FH was very very nervous to ask!) Anyway, so one night we had some friends over and we were going to go in the pool. My dad was working on something so FH stayed with him and the rest of us went into the pool... one thing led to another and my father started busting FHs chops and said 'yes, i give you permission to give my daughter the ring.... she is waiting for it!' Now this made FH even more nervous/upset b/c he wanted to ask my dad formally, so the following day he called my father and ask if he can take him out for dinner or drinks and my father refused, he said that there is no need to spend any money on him and that he has already given FH permission, so would he just do it already!!!
Two days later i was engaged!!!!

he kept chickening out when he saw my dad, so after he proposed we called my parents and i asked to speak to my father and told him hold on FH wants to talk to you, so he got on the phone and told him he asked me to marry him and he's sorry he didn't get a chance to talk to him about it first, but he wanted him to be the first to know. my dad was very happy about all of that

FH asked my dad but had a hard time doing so. Everytime he tried to get my dad alone, my sister was there ( she just broke her leg) so he did it with her around then she popped her head in and got the full story, then told my mom and my mom almost BLEW it for me!!!

FH didn't ask. My mom can not keep a secret from me so he didn't tell anyone. I think my dad was a little upset but he loves FH so he got over it.

He asked my dad on X-Mas Eve, he was super nervous all day and I knew why. Then finally popped the actual question the day before Valentine's Day.

Yeppers! FH visited my dad while I was at school. When I came home, my dad bombarded me with a million and one questions ie. Are you sure you love him? Do you see yourself spending the rest of your life with him? etc. I was wondering what the hell is up with this man today. Come to find out later.. he wanted to make sure he didn't give his blessings in vain.

my FH asked for my parents approval before he proposed...I think that was a really nice touch and it made my parents respect him even more.

Yes... back in Sept FH and Dad went upstate together and he asked him on the drive up.....later on FH went to my parents house and spoke with both my parents and my sister telling them that he planned on popping the question when we toke a family vacation to the Bahamas for Easter.... There was 15 of us so everyone had know for months!!
