What are the best and worst favors you've gotten at a wedding/shower/e-party, etc.
The best I think is the heart shaped half cup scoop at my cousin's shower. i'm biased though. I picked it out.
The worst was a CD of the coupkle's wedding. EVERYONE went NUTS over it. But I don't have the same tastes and I've never listened to it. If it werent my sister and BIL, I'd have thrown it out.

First , no-one should take this personal because so far some of my ideas are on the HATE side and some that I HATE are other peoples ideas...so grow up and understand you cant make 1000 people happy so that said, this might help people or give a good laugh to some...
I agree!!!! This is more of a general type question. Not anything specific like 'chocolate wrapped in yellow tulle with lime green bows and crystal clear glasses shaped as lips'. Its a general question about such a general thing. Its not personal.

Worst I think is serving dishes, like Mikasa bowls because I never use them ...
That's my favor. I don't take it personally, it was more my mom's idea & no favor seemed like a good idea, I'm sure no one will have a use for these bowls.
I've never gotten a cd- I'd find it intersting, especially if the couple has off beat taste in music.

That was my shower favor, but I wans't so fond of it.
I hate hearts, my mom knows tht, but I think she was out voted. And what are you going to do with 1 measuring cup. Its big & doesn't fit in my drawer well, so it is in a box. I already have regular measuring cups. The only thing I can think of is if I've already dirtied my 1/2 cup & my 1/4 cup & I need another 1/2 of something & don't want to wash the other ones.
I very rarely make things with that many ingrediants. . .
I got a shower favor once that was a little glass box, painted with flowers by the bride's brother & filled with easter grass & hershey kisses. I lvoed that. After the kisses on the way home, use the box to store matches, over 3 years later.

e got the cheese cutter and knife once and we loved it. We also got really nice coasters at FH's uncles wedding. I think the worst for me was a heart shaped coffe scoop, I personally don't drink coffee.

I got a set of two votives with silver castles on them at a shower that i will never use... I hate burning pretty candles so they collect dust instead... At the wedding for the same couple the favor was the placecard holders... Pewter castle picture frame that I used for their pic. (FH best friend) But can you tell they were going to Disney for their honeymoon. OOPs all Cindarella style castles

I don't think I ever got a favor I hated but I did love the Mikasa ornament in the shape of a shamrock that I got at a wedding 10 years ago. Everyone else did too since people were stealing them from guests who misplaced them. They were really pretty.

Best? I think most favors are cute but I agree donations are always special
Worst-- It was a bar of soap wrapped in a LOT of tulle then with an arch and a bride and groom on a swing. I was like W T F am I going to do with that? Oh and the smell, soap from the dollar store is strong and stinky. Oh it was horrible. Really bad

i'm may be in the minority here, but i don't really care for favors in general unless they are edible. my two favorite favors have been a box of 4 godiva truffles and a half-bottle of really good red wine. both were great because i got to enjoy them. i also really like the donation idea.

Same here. We're doing the donation for that exact reason. It just seems like a waste when you know 85% of the people either don't take it, throw it away or never use it anyway. That money can be better served elsewhere. JMO.

We are giving Godiva Chocolate. I like getting favors that can be eated or used! Like candles. I don't know what to do with all the trinkets I get from weddings, and I feel bad throwing them away. I usually give them to my mom.

hmmm, might be dangerous to post thoughts like these, as people who are doing, or have done some of the least favorite favors might get hurt in the process.....JMO
We gave chocolate
I completely agree. How about if we try and stick to favors we've actually received. I don't think it's fair to call a favor you've never actually received 'the worst'. For example, I didn't used to be a fan of the donation favor until I actually received one at a wedding and thought it was great.
Anyway, also, in the interest of not being overtly offensive, I'm going to say the favor I've received that I LIKED THE LEAST was a white porcelain bell. I tend to like useful favors more so when we got a silver peppermill -- I LOVED it!

I feel the exact same way. I usually throw away the other stuff. Sorry.

Re: Best and Worst Favor ideas
the best, was a mikasa fruit bowl (wasnt small), s&P shaker, oil and vingar set (well the bottles it would go in) umm oh and that pasta grabber.
worse, sorry guys not into the cds, have gotten that in the past, and the 1st 2 songs would play the rest werent there or skipped a lot and another bad one was a box of chocolates, which i guess would be fine, but i opened them up 2 days after, and they were chocolates where some looked faded looking..meaning they were old... no thank u'

Re: Best and Worst Favor ideas
I always appreciate a donation in lieu of favors.
I received this favor at a wedding years ago - each couple got a set of 4 napkin rings with the words 'eat drink and be merry' on them. I really liked them.
I once received a magic 8 ball key chain which I had hanging in my cubicle for a while until it disappeared.

Got to reply to this. Look at y'all selfish people who just like to receive a gift Myself included.
This is coming from an ex-wedding vendor. Most people that I have dealt with like the practical useful favors. But what is nice and useful to one might not be to the other.
As far as my taste and what I have received, worst: tree sapling favorite: ice bucket with little 187 ml. personalized wine with candle inside (matches too)
