I have heard mixed feelings about the bride going into cocktail hour-
some say its better to get saying hello over with in the cocktail hour and cuts down on having to go table to table.. other people say you really shouldnt show yourself until you are introduced.
I dont know what is better.... Opinions?

fh and i decided to go to the ch--but we also decided dto sneak in to the bridal suite for a few (if you know what i mean). I'm sure we wont be able to resist.

we intended to go to CH but that didnt work!! the bridal attendant brought us all the food being served to taste in the bridal suite (thank God because that was the only time we really ate!) then we settled the final bill with the hall at that time. We also just had a moment of quiet time - just me and DH .. then we went off to take pictures with the sunset .. so we never made it to CH and we extended it by 15 mins...
you can plan but you may make it for the last 15 minutes or so if your lucky!! JMO

Hubby and I ate really quickly in our bridal suite and then went right to cocktail hour. It was easer saying hi to everyone there. Once you get into the reception i didnt really leave the dance floor.

The reason why we're seeing each other before the ceremony and taking pictures before the ceremony is because we want to attend our cocktail hour. I refuse to miss my reception because I'm saying hi to all the guests, IMO, that is what the CH is for.

We are definately going to our cocktail hour. It's the best part of the wedding! As a matter of fact, we are having out pictures taken before the ceremony so we don't miss the CH.
We are doing the same thing... we are paying so much for this freakin wedding...I am not missing a SECOND of it!

I wouldn't miss my cocktail hour for anything! I want to see everyone and mingle with people, besides I'm paying for all of us this why shouldn't I enjoy it.

FH and I decided to be traditional and not go to the Cocktail hour...plus from what I've been told they'll bring us everything to the bridal suite. It'll be good for us to have that time to each other and then go into the madness of the reception.

It depends on your feeling about it.
Some people think that if you go to CH it kills the 'excitement' of your entrance.
We wanted to go to CH to get the hellos and chatting 1/2 way done...but that didnt happen. I think its personal preference, either way people have seen you at the ceremony so its not like the first look, and people will still get excited for your entrance even if you are at CH.
Just know, we were able to eat before CH started that was our only reasoning for wanting to go to CH, if you arent going to be able to go somewhere and eat I wouldnt recommend it, b/c you may not get the chance to eat again all night

I paid alot of money for my hall. I'm going to enjoy my cocktail hour. IMO there is no reason for you not to be there. You are already married and announced at the church/RH

I went to cocktail hour. We said hello to 85% of our guests which was great because we did not have to go table to table. Also I feel as though you are paying a lot of money for those five hours and better get the most out of it.

I am going to the cocktail hour for the reason like you said, to get the hellos over with so we can enjoy the reception and also we LOVE food and thats some of the best food of the night so we want to eat it all!!!!

We got married at our RH, so our cocktail hour was immediately after the ceremony. We took a majority of our pictures prior to the ceremony. After the ceremony we took a couple of family pictures and then we made a 15 minute appearance at the cocktail. We figured it was a good way to start to chat with some of our guests, so we could enjoy the reception more.
