I think I've narrowed it down to 2 options. What do you al think of either of these dresses (in black)?
#1)
(I can't post this in black as my company won't let me on the Davids Bridal site!!)
#2)
I'm leaning towards the 2nd one, but am not 100% sure. What do you all think?

Re: Bridesmaid Dress opinions
I like the second one, but I think one is more formal. Also, the second one is a little low cut and might make some girls feel a little uncomfortable--don't forget about the pictures people take when someone is leaning over (for example talking to someone across the table or something) and well, you get the idea. If you go with #2 make sure to check that out.

Re: Bridesmaid Dress opinions
Here's the david's one in black I like them both, but the first one is definitely more bridesmaid-y. Have you looked everywhere? I've seen quite a few bridesmaid dresses in black that are very beautiful. I just don't love either of these, but that's just MO.

Re: Bridesmaid Dress opinions
I like the first one. I have worn dresses to weddings as a guest that are more fancy then #2.

Re: Bridesmaid Dress opinions
I had the first one for my bridemaids in burgundy and I think they all looked great. The dress flattered each one of the girls.

I like the 1st one. Is the second one see-thru. If so I wouldn't do that. In you pictures you want them to look like they are your wedding party and not just a guest. That is just my opinion - the 2nd dress is nice, I just don't think it is for a bridal party.

Re: Bridesmaid Dress opinions
I think Jim Hjelm has a black sort of lacy dress that is very nice. - I'll see if I can find it.

Re: Bridesmaid Dress opinions
FYI: the top of the second dress isn't see through - it is lace on top of silk
if anyone has suggestions for black dresses I'd love to see them
I'm trying to go for something that (1) isn't too expensive (as I am buying at least 5 of these) (2) isn't too 'bridesmaid-y' and (3) could potentially be worn again at a dinner or cocktail party
The wedding itself is Black Tie Optional and I have totally worn dresses like #2 at black tie events and gotten rave reviews. It's also a beach theme wedding and I think that affects how 'traditional' I want to go (i.e. not very)
I like the 2nd one as it has a Grace Kelly/Audrey Hepburn elegance to it. I often think that those with the classic simple dresses outshine those in the overly fancy garb, which is why I'm leaning towards this one. But as I said I'd love suggestions! The only thing I'm inflexible on is the color...

I love them both, but I really like the second one. Maybe you can use both. Put bridesmaids in the first dress and MOH in the second dress.

Re: Bridesmaid Dress opinions
well, here's one from Chadwick's that's pretty, cheap ($99), and is available in black. I'm pretty sure that Mori Lee dresses are inexpensive, and there are a few nice dresses on their site, such as: and I dunno, I didn't really search much online, but I know that I saw quite a few pretty black dresses in bridal salons I've been to. If you're looking for inexpensive tea length dresses, try Jessica McClintock, I remember seeing a few 'prom' dresses there in black that would work for bridesmaids. I'd post a picture, but her site is down.
