pb: that makes me feel better. Lately I've begun to feel behind, but realistically know I'm not. We're going with a vineyard theme, but orginally were going to do fall. I can't wait to see how everything turns out for you!!!!

Re: Carltun Thread
I just spoke with Liz at The Carltun and we can include our vendors in our headcount. This is good because we have 13 vendors that now we don't have to pay the addl $45 for each vendor. She also said if we wanted the sorbet passed around after salad it is $5 pp.

Re: Carltun Thread
hi girls! it's so nice that you guys have a carltun thread now...it's such a wonderful place that it deserves some recognition! i never really post anything on this site but it has been SUCH a great help to me while i was planning my wedding (which was 9/19/2004). i will post a review in a few days, but rest assured, you are all going to have AMAZING weddings. the carltun was everything my husband and i were looking for in a reception site. our guests said it's the best wedding they've ever been to, the best food they've ever had and the most tasteful, classy decor they've ever seen. the phone calls won't stop... anyway, i'm here to help...feel free to ask anything you want. here are some responses to the questions you guys had... - there is no course in between the salad and the intermezzo and/or main course. we added a mushroom risotto for $8 a person. it was soooo delicious and we were very happy we made the decision to include another course. - they decorate the foyer and some of the cocktail room with candles. i decided not to get any flower arrangements on the CH tables. HOWEVER, i lucked out and apparently, the couple that got married in the afternoon had flowers on the table so my florist kept them there. - i didn't really pay much attention to the printed menus. i think the only person that thought to take a copy of it was my mom so i'll ask her exactly what kind of paper it's on.
if anyone has any other questions, ask away...my wedding was an absolute fairy tale thanks in large part to the carltun. as soon as i have my pictures scanned, i'll post those too! best of luck to all!!

NKA: How did you like your florist? I've seen some of their work setup at the Carltun and really thought it was stunning and unique. Any opinions you could give on them would be great. Thanks for weighing in on this thread, it helps so much to hear from a recent Carltun bride. Cannot WAIT to see your pictures!!!!

Re: Carltun Thread
pb- let me ask you this: how many BM's do you have and did you take all of them at the same time to the salon to have them order it? How many months proir did you order hem? I'm so anxious about this part!!

Re: Carltun Thread
I only have 3 BM's. I went with my MOH and found two dresses we liked. I went back with the other BM's and they both liked the one we got. We went in the middle of March, and the dresses came in the middle of July.

Re: Carltun Thread
We didn't do the after-party...although I hear it's amazing. We did, however, extend the party about an hour and half at the end of the night. As for the cocktail stations, we had some help with those. Our BM, Carol, helped us chose some. From what I remember, we had the pasta station, the anitpasta station, the vodka/caviar station (which we got mainly for 'decoration'-- they make a BEAUTIFUL ice sculpture and from what I hear, the vodkas were delicious), the crepe station, the duck station (Carol suggested that for a fall wedding). i know i'm forgetting some...oh, and we also added the raw bar station which was a HUGE hit. The shrimps were huge and the clams and oysters were some of the best we've ever had. We didn't make it to our cocktail hour b/c we were running late but they set up the bridal suite with EVERYTHING they had at the CH and even packed up left-overs. As for our florist, Fleurs de Florissima, they did an incredible job! Our centerpieces were soo beautiful! I really have to post pictures of them because they really deserve a lot of credit! I basically went in there clueless and they helped me figure out exactly what to get and told me what would look best with the decor at the Carltun. They may be a tad more expensive than some of the other florists but worth every penny. Even they way they decorated the church was breath-taking... Hmm...as for any other suggestions...I think the ONLY thing I would have done differently were my placecards. We had made the small votive placecards and lit them up before the guests arrived. It looked soooo pretty BUT, as soon as people picked them up, they didn't know what do with them at the cocktail hour. Logically, you would just put them down on a table somewhere but SOME people made a fuss about it and actually went into the ballroom EARLY to put them at their seats. Also, I picked up my proofs from Glenmar yesterday and they really did an amazing job. I was VERY skeptical about them...I don't really know why...maybe b/c they schmooze a little too much for my taste. But my proofs came out sooooo good, I'm absolutely thrilled. I'll try to post some pictures tonight! Good luck!!

Where did you do all your shots at Carltun?

Re: Carltun Thread
We did most of our formal shots inside in the foyer by the grand piano. At first, I was upset that we didn't do them outside, but they actually came out really nice. I was running really late because I got my hair and make-up re-done after ceremony, so it was a little too dark to take them by the fountain in the gardens. However, my husband and his family took some pics there also and they came out wonderful.

Re: Carltun Thread
Oooooh I can't wait to see the pictures!!!! We're still debating about whether to do formals at the Carltun or right after the ceremony at a park by our church. We have a 45 minute ride from the church to the Carltun, and all the photographers we looked at expressed a concern about waiting until we got to the Carltun to do all the formals. Perhaps we'll split it up. But I'm ahead of myself as usual. First I need to book a photographer, then I can worry about what to do!!!

Re: Carltun Thread
I would recommend using the cake that The Carltun provides. They do a really good job and the cake actually tasted really good. We got white cake with raspberry and white chocolate filling.
