CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

how did it go with moving the cocktail hour time? i think for the evening weddings they are pretty flexible.

we have invites--which will be ordered tonight or next tuesday. we booked our rehersal at the church and need to go to the restaurant to book the dinner, tuxes, and shoes and a veil. I got my headpiece at Barrons but need a swatch of the dress to make sure it's the right one and match the color of the veil.

We did switch the cocktail hour time from 6 to 6:30- this way it gives us more time for pics!

I can't believe how close we are Tara! Ordering the invites was a total reality shock!

I know Vita it's crazy. We ordered our invites yesterday and they are supposed to be in by the end of the month.

when did you plan to send yours out and what did you do as your response date? Since we are the same weekend i thought they might be similar!

we decided on 7/1 as the reponse date, which is 5 weeks before the wedding. I hope everyone responds but if not we'll have time to call them. I'm hoping to get them out May 9th at the latest but not sure if that is going to happen.

I wanted to seperate the salad and the appetizer and maybe even add an intermezzo.

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

Hi ladies. Are you using a band or a dj? FI and I were originally planning to use a dj with no lighting. We went to see someone today and now we're kind of confused. Our party is on a Friday night and the reception begins at 8:30. The dj explained that since it is at night, we may want to have some kind of lighting. He explained that the guests view lighting as a kind of 'security blanket' and if the room is not dim with lighting effects, they may be intimidated to get up and dance. We are kind of concerned with how this will look in the ballroom. It is so beautiful and I would hate to detract from it by using lighting and making it look cheesy. For those of you using djs, are you using lighting? And for those of you using bands, do they provide any kind of lighting? Perhaps, I am just overanalyzing the lighting... Any input is sooo appreciated!!
Thanks!

We chose the crab cake duet course and it was delicious. We were able to add a pasta course too.

As for our DJ, we had lighting but kept it a minimum- nothing to flashy and it looked fine.

We're having a dj and we are having some very basic lights just to 'warm' up the dance floor as your vendor described (maybe its the same one).

Does anyone know how many fit at the round tables and how many at the oval? I just sent out my invites on Monday so I am aniticipating table seating!
chicagogal Posted:

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

The ovals can go up to 14 and the rounds are up to 10 (I think....
I think the smallest table we had was 6 people.
anjerandunder Posted:

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

we were told 9-11 comfortably for the round and 14 for the oval.

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

Last time i was there the room was mixed with all oval and round...

It looked nice.... unless you were really picky, you would not be able to tell the difference
