Guess What.. I got a phone call today to make an appoitment for my menu planning!

YEAH!

isn't that the greatest call..don't forget to bring all the paperwork that they send you in the mail regarding vendors..i did and i had to fax it all to them..duh

re: placecards... i was told that with teh votive placards guests should pick them up on their way out of cocktail hour... what do you think about doing that?

also... what paperwork????

well if you do it on the way out of cocktail hour that would mean that they are returning to the hallway to get their place setting..if that's the idea then that would work because no one is keeping them the whole ch..go for it..you will get a letter in the mail confirming your appointment and in it will have some final papers like vendor sheet and stuff like that..you have to bring an invitation also to confirm your time with what they have..i forgot mine..lol i'm so absent minded

YOU ARE THE BEST! THANKS! (I love being able to talk to other Carlyle Brides!)

Honest Opinons... Do you think that it is stupid for the guests to go back into the hallway for their placecards?

I don't think so...but I may be biased because I want to do votive place cards too!! Honestly though, I don't think it would be an issue. Isn't that what guests would have to do at any reception hall?

Yeah but usually they have to pick up their placecards on the way to the ballroom- not go back and forth...

hmmmm

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

During my initial meeting with Sue, I asked about votive placeholders and she wasn't too crazy about the idea. She said that they way they like to do it is have the guests pick up the placecards on their way into cocktail hour so logistically it would be difficult to do. I think that they are very accommodating though, so I'm sure if you have your heart set on it, you could do it.

On a separate note, we are having some difficulty booking the entertainment. Are you guys using a band or dj and which company did you decide to go with?

Thanks!!

We booked a Franlin Wayne band- Daybreaks Night- they are a vendor on here. Not reccomended by Carlyle but we saw them at 3 weddings and my parents saw them at two others and they rocked!

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

My parents are really annoyed there is no full tasting. My sister was married at Flowerfield and we were able to sit down and taste everything that was a choice for the menu- this was done before the menu planning there.

Anyone else feel the same way? I know they comp us a bit to eat in the restaurant but I still feel kinda shorted.... for the money we are all paying- friday, sat or sunday... it is soo much

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

Do we get to taste anything at the menu selection? That's annoying...

Good friends of ours just ate at the Oak Room for their anniversary and raved about the food. I always hear good things, but I'd love to sample it myself w/o spending the $$ to eat there, you know?

Hi we just booked at the Carlyle for June 9th of 06, I was told that we get a credit to eat at the Oak Room.

Also when we were there booking one of the workers mentioned the band 'Renegade' has anyone ever heard of them?

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

Gary mentioned Renegade to me.. they are awesome but I think when we checked they were over 6,500- really close to 7-- too close!

We went with another band that we loved.

So what band did you end up going with? How were there prices?

We did, they were booked for our date though. If they weren't, it would have been a really tough decision between them and our band Full House.

I think Renegade was $7200 for a Sat night. You should hear them, they were really good. Gary raves about them.

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

Hi girls :)
We are using Renegade (on Gary's recommendation) We went to hear them one night at one of their band showcases and were really impressed. We had originally booked a dj, so it was a sort of last-minute change for us.
One of my good friends had the band someone else mentioned, Daybreaks Night for their wedding, and we all had such a fun time, so I know they would be great too :)

145 days and counting!

Side note, I was out for fh's brother's bday this weekend and he wanted to go to Culture Club. There was a Caryle bride there for her bachelorette party having a *very* fun time She's getting married June 16th I think(?) Was a little too late in the evening for her to carry on coherent conversation, but she seemed very excited....

we are going on saturday to do our menu. they said it takes an hour and a half. what do you do?

also--does anyone know why they need an inviation?

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

We booked Daybreaks Night- a Frank Wayne band.. I think we are payingf 5,800,

Our menu planning is in another week- tara let me know how it goes- i have no idea what stations i am doing for cocktail hour.

I think we have to bring invites to make sure we put down the correct time.

My mom was upset too. They did comp our meal at the Oak room too.
Not being able to try stuff made picking the menu more difficult. In the end everything was absolutely perfect. Don't worry, I don't think there was anything that we didn't absolutely love and my family is a tough bunch to please.
