Hi ladies! I am a new Carlyle Bride!!! My fh and I had actually booked PJCC and had secured several vendors. We then went to PJCC this past Friday night for a bridal showcase and were just very disappointed--just didn't feel right to us at all. Soooo...on the very snowy Saturday we went out to Carlyle, which we loved when whe had seen it originally. And....no contest, we booked for October 16th 2005!!!!!!

We are SOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy with the choice. Can't wait to hear more details from you all!

Congrats and welcome! Who did you book with? I booked with Gary, he was great!

We had originally talked with Gary back in July and met with Sue this weekend. They were both wonderful. I think since Gary originally met with us, he will be our contact person. Sue was great, but she seemed most comfortable with that. Their customer service has been outstanding in even this short time.

congrats on booking Carlyle... in fact you did what I did... we had PJCC booked and switched to Carlyle!

As far as the valet, I know what you mean! I don't understand why in the ads in says Valet Parking when you have to pay extra for it.... let us know what you find out Empire!

Their customer service is fantastic! Gary's great, I call him with random questions all the time and he is always ready to answer!

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

we booked with Sue to but recommended 2 other couples who worked with Sue and Gary. I think they are all great.

I will let you all know about the parking. We are going to try to head there next week to ask them.

I got my letter in the mail saying that our next $5k deposit is due
We are excited because it means the wedding is 6 months away but the reality of how much it's all going to be is sinking in too!!!

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

2 quick questions: does anyone know how far in advance of the wedding day you go to finalize the menu? And, does the carlyle provide you with placecards for seating or do we have to get and make them up ourselves?
TIA!!

I don't think they gave placecards, i made my own. Also I finalized my menu the month before but I don't know how far in advance you can to do it.

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

from what I remember, they have placecards but they aren't very attractive looking- they recommend you do your own....

anyone find any info out about the valet parking?

EmpireState--- I too got my 6 month $5k bill the other day.... ughhh!

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

I just found out about an bridal expo at Carlyle on Thursday, 2/24. Wanted to share with my fellow Carlyle brides. KJoy 98.3 is putting it on and there will be lots of vendors there.

My band is going to be there, so I think I'll go and check them out and see how they sound in the Carlyle ballroom.

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

Thanks for the info about the showcase.... I love having excuses to visit Carlyle!

Hey girls... anyone know the answers to these questions:

Does Carlyle provide Menus?
Do they provide Table Numbers on the Tables?

(I was going to make up the table number cards on my own, with out monogram on the top... I'm hoping they won't mind putting them into their frames..... do you think that will be a problem? If so, I won't bother)

Do they have someone in the bathroom or do you make up your own bathroom basket?

Anyone ever NOT do the Duet Course.... I wanted to do a separate appetizer and salad.

Also... When we booked they really didn't budge on the price per person. I'm sure if you booked closer to your date or for during the winter months they worked with you a bit more.

For those of you who they didn't really budge with at booking- did they 'throw in' anything later on, or work with you on other things?

Thanks!

My recollection was that they did not provide menus, but that they would provide framed table numbers. If you ask, I'd be surprised if they didn't let you just use your own table names.

I don't think that there was anyone in the bathroom, and we did have to provide our own bathroom baskets.

They do not provide menus so we made our own. I never even thought of the bathroom issue so we didn't provide anything extra.

As far as the menu goes. We did the duet course and then added a pasta course after it. They did add that in at no extra charge which I thought was really nice. Also for the cocktail hour, they combined two of the cheese/crudite tables together to make it one big station.

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

thanks girls.... i am so curious to see if they will throw anything extra in or work with us on the price for the seafood bar if we add it.... my sister was married at Flowerfield last year and they added so much on.... I'm worried my parents will be upset if Carlyle doesn't do the same.

i think we have to do the bathroom baskets on our own. we were planning on doing one.

i know they do have table #'s in frames but i'm sure they would let you use yours.

i didn't get there yet. while i'm BM dress shopping on Saturday my fh is going to drop off the 5k deposit and see if he can find out about the valet parking. I'll let you know what he finds out

great news about the showcase. we went to the last one--it's a great way to try the food too!!

i like that they threw in the pasta course at no charge==that could be an option for my Italian family!!

I'm sure they will work with you on the price of the seafood bar. as you get closer to the date it's just xtra $ for them that they weren't counting on.

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

ok so i went to carlyle today to drop off my deposit and ask about the valet parking. i referenced the ad and said did something change from when we booked because it was the only ad in the whole section that mentioned valet parking.

they said nothing changed and they weren't sure why they wrote that. it was just to advertise that they have it--duh==don't most if not all halls have it?

anyway looks like we still have to pay--which i figured we would but at least i asked.

and i noticed that the entrance lobby was burgendy. was it always that color? i couldn't remember but i didn't think it was. the hallway halls are still tan but the entrance looked different to me.

i also went looking for BM dresses today and found a few that we loved so i think i accomplished a lot!

Re: CARLYLE BRIDE THREAD!!!!

thanks for asking- too bad we have to pay for valet...

glad to hear we are on the same page with bm dress- (what colors are u doing- that's the one thing I can't decide!) I haven't ordered mine yet either... How did bridal gown dress shopping go.. any luck yet?

The last time I was at Carlyle, I rememeber the added a huge burgendy drapery thing in the front hallway on the side- I think across from the desk- and then I think the carpet in the hall is burgendy.... i wonder if they changed it... look at the pics kdrainey posted, maybe you will see it in there.. i'll have to search to find out!
