Cat still missing (UPDATE 7-23-10) Its been 2 weeks

We have seen him a few times but he is so scared that he runs and hides. The vet told us not to take it personal bc he has no claws and he sees everyone as a threat but i still cant help but cry.

i miss the little guy so much and so does my other cat. he sits at the door crying all night.

tonight we put up a cat trap. hopefully it will work.

i have barely slept in a week.

does anyone have any ideas to how i can catch a scared lost indoor kitty ??

OMG i am so sorry!!! have you tried enticing him with raw chicken? yes, weird, but cats go bezerk for raw chicken (and it won't make them sick).

i never thought of raw chicken. i have sat by my door for 3 hours at a time. i set my alarm and bring out his favorite food, nothing. and when i do see him, he is so low to the ground and he is crying but he gets scared away when i go to pick him up.

try it. sometimes cats will get so intrigued by it - mine will attack my hand even if i don't have any in it, but had touched it. try leaving a tiny bit and see if he's interested. then let him watch you drop another piece. and then let him see it in your hand and he just may come close enough for you to grab him. good luck! keep me posted please!

I would try to leave the door open and the food inside. Eventually he will come home.

The Cage is the best bet. Ive done it already. When the Cat gets hungry enough he'll go in. I use sardines they are smelly and its more universal than chicken, Some cats dont like chicken Most will go the seafood route, GL

most vet will tell you seafood is not healthy for cats. I would check with your vet 1st before attempting this.

when you see him outside... leave a trail of dropped food and prop your door open with the trail leading in. lock your other cat in the bathroom or a bedroom while this is going on.

we took many strays in...and i know it may startle them, but we would just come from behind them and pick them up...they were startled for about 10 seconds and then were fine.

Another method is to set up a cat carrier or cat trap w/ food inside. The cat trap should close automatically, and you can watch the cat carrier and close it up. Try hiding the box with some leaves or something so your cat just sees the food and not the box.

Does your cat like catnip? Try spreading some catnip around...either in the box or on the ground outside.

He doesnt stay close enough for me to grab him. he hides in the bushes. i have been outside every night lookin in the bushes calling his name

Maybe put some food on your porch and he will come to it? You might get a stray or 2 but if you've seen him you know he is in the area.
